Specifically the 3 rivers are filthy and have sewage in them at times. People can't even swim in the rivers or eat the fish if they are smart. There also is no worthwhile outdoor recreation. Why is there so little regard for Pittsburgh's rivers?
If everyone who is disgusted with Pittsburgh leaves it there will be no one to pay for the police or schools.

If everyone who is disgusted with Pittsburgh leaves, we would have no need for police or schools because only law-abiding, intelligent people would remain!

Well, I wont even bother addressing the "worthwhile outdoor recreation" quote, because I think if you are anything but a complete moron you would appreciate the outdoor activities Pittsburgh has to offer. But as far as the 3 rivers being filthy, you are correct, sewage does pour into our rivers during times of heavy rain. The one fact that you are overlooking is that every single major city in the country does the exact same thing to their water sources, including Seattle Seattle Guy.
Duwamish River - Elliott Bay Water Quality Assessment
On a positive note (imagine that) the City of Pittsburgh is in talks with Alcosan to sign a 20 year contract to eliminate the sewage outflows into our rivers. Not that you wont come up with another reason why Pittsburgh is the worst place on Earth, but I thought I could at least point out the stupidity of your current gripe.

He's right about the rivers though. They're so filthy! That's why we hosted the Bassmaster Classic fishing tournament here. And that's why I see people out there kayaking and fishing and..... Wait.

Nor should they. Even if they were as clean as bottled water, it's not a safe environment for swimming, generally speaking.

Oh yeah old men golfing or sitting in stadiums watching sports games subsidized by the taxpayers.

Allow me to ask this question again, a question you claimed to answer before: What outdoor recreation can you not do in Pittsburgh?

Ok Seattle Guy, I think the terrorism talk has gone a little too far. Think back to the subject of the post you are in: "Pittsburgh is Great for 20 somethings." Lets get back to that. Post a new topic if you want to talk about muslim vs. christianity.

Pittsburgh was just rated "Best Adventure City" for outdoor activities by National Geographic Magazine.

Not sure what outdoor activities you're after, but it seems that Pittsburgh has quite a few - it's one of the reasons I'm excited to move there.
There is also a great organization called venture outdoors that lists all types of hiking, kayaking, biking, rock climbing, etc.

Anyone who needs an outfitter for the outdoors in Pittsburgh is not fit to do any rugged outdoor activity.
If you think Pgh. is good for the outdoors fine, but don't expect everyone else to think that.

Seattle Guy-
I don't think Venture outdoors is an outfitter, seems to be more of an organization to promote outdoor activities in Pittsburgh...
Also - I don't expect everyone else to think anything... just wanted to respond to your post:

by stating that National Geographic rated Pittsburgh #1 for adventure cities in the US. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I am curious - what type of outdoor activities are lacking in Pittsburgh? My wife and I are moving to Pittsburgh soon and I would appreciate your opinion.
