Default Moving Back to Pgh after 20 years - Info on North Versailles

Hi everyone:

After 20 years of living in New York and California, I am moving back to the Pittsburgh area with my husband. Because we were so far away, we had to rent a place, sight unseen, over the internet. We ended up renting a townhome in North Versailles (The Enclave) because they were brand new, close to Monroeville where I'll be working, and because they allowed dogs (hard to find).

But I have been unable to find ANY info on this area. Can anyone tell us about North Versailles? We will have to live there until our home in California sells and we can be hone owners again (that might take awhile given the market).

I'd appreciate anything anyone could offer on this area.

Thanks so much and looking forward to heading home after all these years!

Not a bad area, I would not purchase there, but look around after a year lease and move to either Norwin or Murrysville.

Not a bad area - you are in Allegheny Co. around a mile from the Westmoreland county line. You will be right across the street from a large movie theater and a small strip mall with a grocery store. White Oak park is only 3 miles away and they have a large dog park.

1/4 mile up the road is a plaza with a Kmart, Home Depot, and some fast food. You are close to Monroeville and the waterfront for shopping, and downtown can be reached in around 30 min. (non-rush hour, of course). Irwin / north huntington township is only a few miles down Rt. 30, and also has some shopping and dining.

It's not a bad area, nice part is you're close to all the shopping in Monroeville, Greensburg and the Waterfront.

Thank you everyone for your input. It's also GREAT to know that there's a dog park nearby. That was actually my next question! :-) Thanks again - I appreciate the information!

White Oak Veterinary clinic is pretty good and right down the road. They had a waiting list several years ago when we were looking for a place to take our dog (my parents use them for their dog). They may be taking new patients now.
