So the police showed up at the St. Patrick's Day parade in support of the three officers in this case:

Thousands throng Downtown for parade

Being confident that Miles' side of the story is true, this indicates that the police OPENLY SUPPORT police brutality. I'm sure that specifically is not their intent, but it's the way it comes across. I find this offensive and appalling.

Just throwing this out there, it was the decision of the Supreme Court in Illinois v. Wardlow that fleeing from the police in a high crime area does raise reasonable articulable suspicion justifying a detention. This would be why it is relevant whether the police identified themselves or not.

That's sick. The officers of the Pittsburgh police force shouldn't take sides until an official determination is made.

The boy passed a more extensive two hour lie detector test administered by the FBI.

The police weren't even questioned about the Mountain Dew bottle during their lie detector test.

The police openly support their own interests. It's like a union, or generally is a union in fact. They see this kind of thing as making their job more difficult and dangerous, which I don't think would necessarily be in dispute. It's just that we're dealing with something a bit more complicated than, say, a manufacturing company that's making jobs more difficult and dangerous.

Police work would be easier if you could stop and detain anyone for any reason, right? And didn't have to answer for the force that was used? Well, that has to be balanced with the right's we're granted and accustomed to in this country. There's always going to be this kind of back and forth pushing as far as where the line is drawn.

As for the he said, he said, well, wouldn't the cops have more to lose than the kid? I tend to think so. And even if they did everything they did believing it was necessary, it doesn't mean they didn't make a wrong choice.

Here is what I find interesting. The officers have lawyered up with a criminal defense attorney and not their union attorney. It could be public opinion forcing them to hire an attorney or it could be that they are worried that they are going to be charged.

I can also see why the police are upset, credibility isn't relevant at a preliminary hearing. I wasn't at the hearing so I don't know the whole story but it seems as if the judge wanted to toss the case so he did regardless of what the facts. How many other times has a case been tossed because witnesses weren't credible? It basically never happens.
