I am a speech therapist working in early intervention (that's birth to three years old), in the pittsburgh area. I just moved here from New York recently, and have been shocked by the differences in special education services comparitively. Namely, I'm concerned about the frequency of services provided, which is much less here, than what i was used to in New york. I'm considered not staying in this state long term because of this. We love the city and the cost of living, but it's really impacting my satisfaction with my job, and my ability to make a difference. Does anyone know what is going on with special education in the area, and if it's the whole state or just the surrounding counties? Also, does anyone know how to find out which states provide the best/highest frequency of early intervention services? Thanks, and info would be appreciated.
