I am possibly about to put in an offer on a side-by-side duplex in Squirrel Hill. The only bad thing about the place is that the other side of the property has a huge above ground pool and deck that takes up the entire (small) back yard. I have been trying to get information about whether or not it is even permissible to have a pool in such a small area. Do any of you know about this?
Any information is appreciated. Thank you!

I recommend you keep looking for another house where you will be happy with the surroundings.

Don't buy a house planning to train the neighbors. Big mistake.

Dang, agreeing with Hopes, AGAIN.

You're not even the owner and already planning to go after your neighbor. My advice, buy a condo.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, when you buy a duplex, you buy both sides of the property. I don't think there are any laws about pools, though.

raffy, the City of Pittsburgh code is searchable:

Municode.com | Online Library

I did a quick search on "pool" and found some results that seem relevant. For example, the very last search result discusses required setbacks for pools. Good luck.

I've seen them sold separately, like townhouses.

What's the beef with the pool anyway? Get friendly with the owner and maybe he'll invite you to swim in it some sultry summer day.
