pls help me about Plum Boro
Hi, friends. I am living in ALaska, and I wants to move into Plum Boro, pittsburgh. My family wants to find a space to have own business-- chinese & vietnamese food restaurant. Currently, I find one space in Boyce Park center. However, I am worry about the surrounding ,like the income, level, the society, the job opportunity, and the neiborhood, the cost of life, the traffic, the school, the population, the age group, means everything in Plum boro.
I really appreciate that if anybody in that area can give me some information and suggestion. The reason I wants to move into Plum Boro is because it makes me feel like I am still in Alaska, quite and relax with niccer weather than Alaska, but also I need to survive after I move down here.

Hi yusam! If you browse this forum a bit - you should find more than one thread on Plum Boro. I'm from a town that is nearby and I can honestly say that Plum Boro is a good option. It is a bit rural still but has a very healthy growing population and I think it should meet the qualities you are looking for quite nicely. It is a very easy drive to downtown Pittsburgh, Monroeville, and Greensburg (as a matter of fact a lot of business from Monroeville is moving to Plum Boro).
Many people, including myself, believe Plum Boro will become one of the fastest growing and prosperous places in the greater Pittsburgh area in the near future.

Yusam,
If I read the your post correctly, you seem to be most concerned about the chances of your restaurant being successful if it's located at Boyce Park Center. You mention that you are looking for a certain client base. Could you please elaborate on the type of patrons you're hoping to find? Also type of atmopshere would your chinese & vietnamese restaurant have? For instance, would it be upscale or trendy? Are you aiming to be a neighborhood restaurant or a trendy, upscale restaurant that attracks people from all over the city? Give us some more information and we'll be able to provide you with solutions. Without knowing anything more, I'd say that a location near Boyce Park should do very well if you advertise your location to the general public and local businesses. I think Pittsburgh needs all the independently owned restaurants it can get.

Hello, Yusam! I am from Plum Boro. I am *fairly* new to the area, so I can't place Boyce Park Center. Plum Boro is very large, so there is plenty of room for businesses like yours. I only know of one local (in town) chinese restaurant, which is a bit expensive, so you will have a fairly open field. Being centrally located is important, but there are plenty of locations available. Be sure to advertise well, and you should have a clientele in no time (including me!).
As far as the other things, well, I am no expert-but it is basically rural/suburban living. I don't know about the cost of living in alaska, so I can't help you compare. Home prices are just about some of the lowest I've seen. A basic 3-4 Bedroom, 2.5 bath 1600-2000 S.F. house will run you from $165,000 to however much you want to spend, the older homes are a little less (but usually smaller). It is good place for families, especially children. Nothing is outrageously expensive here.
If you have questions please feel free to ask.
