I like that agenda, NewBurg. It sounds fun and relaxed, with enough variety to keep small children amused.
Does anyone know if that river taxi still runs? Last I knew it only ran on special occasions, but if it happens to be running when they visit, it would be a fun and convenient way to get around.

Just wanted to threw something out there now that we are back from our trip (We had a great time, thanks for all of your advice):
One of the highlights of our Pittsburgh visit was a trip to the Sports & History Museum (or whatever it is called). They have a temportary exhibit featuring a large collection of Pulitzer Prize winning photographs. There were some amazing stories behind each photograph. Pictures from WWII, Vietnam, and just everyday stories. Very moving. I suggest anyone visiting the Pittsburgh area to visit this exhibit.
Thanks again.

Oooo you're right! Sorry OP!
The Renaissance is nicer, as is the William Penn, I'd forgotten about them, but really thought more about the view from the Station Square, along with proximity to the Southside, Station Square, incline, and Mt Washington, as well as downtown.
The Grand Concourse is my favorite restaurant - good food, a bit pricey, but for a special occasion, just to sit there and admire the stained glass, the beautiful woodwork, along with the history of the area.
I do hope that the OP had a great time. I haven't read all the way thru the posts yet, but I do realise that today is 7/2, and the OP was going on 6/30.
blessings, Shen

I'm so glad that you had a good time! Where did you stay? Another poster at the bottom of page 3 had a good agenda posted that I'd love to copy and send to my hubby for a nice relaxing day spent in Pittsburgh. I no longer work there (hence my memory lapse on the Sheraton Station Square *sorry!), but hubby has promised a trip to the Strip District one AM for a visit, along with a nice shopping trip to Wholley's. We'll have to bring the ice chest for that, if we're to spend the day and part of the evening there.
The History Museum is worth the trip, I agree, along with a walk to the Point and to the fort for earlier history of the region.
blessings, Shen

And yes Monterey Bay has great food, and the one on Mt. Washington has a spectacular view. But I am not sure if anyone's mentioned that it's fairly upscale. Just to warn the OP

Yes. It was mentioned as "Fine Dining" and whomever eats beyond a WendyBurger or SirPizza should comprend. The crowd is not upscale-come as you are(sans flip-flops) and expect to pay minimum $25 an entree.
