Hi All,

I have finally moved from NJ to Pittsburgh.

Thank you all for suggestions on my earlier posts. It really helped me narrow down the places for apt hunting.
I have found a small apt in Scott township.
PAT service is also good and i am really happy commuting here compared to NYC rush hour.

I am planning to buy a car now.I just want to take 1 or 2 driving lessons before road test. Please suggest a driving institute near Greentree, carnegie, scott township area.
I can google it but any previous experience, suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

I'm not quite for sure, but I don't believe that there are any driving schools in Pennsylvania - other then the programs that are based at the high schools for the student drivers.

If you own a vehicle, you could get a permit to drive and have someone ride with you and when you get confident enough - you could go and take your test.

You need to realize that you will have to obtain a book from a Penndot Drivers testing center, explaining the rules of the road and you will have to take a proficiency test to prove that you know and understand all the questions / rules of the road, in the book before you will be allowed to obtain a permit.

They just don't hand out licenses here like prizes in a cracker jacks box.

There are private driving instructors, I think when I had one 8 years ago or so it was $90 an hour maybe? Mine was ..get this... Bob Blinkhorn, but he's out the opposite direction.

A quick Google search came up with this: Virtual Oakland - Driving Schools

You'll probably have to make some phone calls to narrow things down, but there are lots and lots of private driving schools.

Try this, it's right down the street from me, I see them all over....

Easy Method Driving School, ‎1301 South Braddock Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15218-1251,(412) 243-3279‎

Other than that, I think being from Jersey, you could open your own school and teach people around here a thing or two about driving.
