Default Paul McCartney to open Consol Energy Center

He has not played Pittsburgh in twenty years. He prefers to play stadiums, but agreed to play Consol Energy because of the honor to open up a new arena. He also had to cancel one show at Mellon Arena because he could not get his equipment into the venue. He felt that this was also a good "make up" date.
In related news, the new North Shore Amphitheater will be called Stage AE. This is for Pittsburgh based American Eagle. This is a good choice because AE's
clothes are geared towards members of Generation X, Y and Z, along with Baby Boomers. Hopefully the acts booked at the venue will have the same broad appeal.

Hopefully the AE Amp will start getting more alternative bands that pass over us (like Phoeenix, Spoon, Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Passion Pit,Dead Weather, etc.) I had emailed PromoWest and suggested it to them (since they get those types of artists at the LC in Columbus)

Remember that in the colder months, this will give Pittsburgh it's 2000-3000 seat indoor venue for music that it used to have, but currently lacks. That will open up a number of acts too small for the big venues and too large for places like The Rex etc. This will replace venues like The Stanley Theater and The Syria Mosque, which have been gone for 20-25 years. I also like the fact that there will be a rock club for about 400-500 people. These are actually the types of gigs I like the most. That is about how many people that could squeeze into Graffiti, where I saw great bands like Los Lobos, Squeeze, X, Repacements, Rave-Ups, Joan Jett, Skinny Puppy, and so on. Even name acts like mentioned above sometimes like these small venues

Word. That is exactly what I thought. Rush is awesome, and would have been better. Never like Paul after the beatles.

But who cares. The Flaming Lips are coming, thats all I care about.

Frank Kass of Continental Real Estate said that there may be another entertainment venue built nearby Stage AE that is not music related and has a "national brand.'' He would not elaborate. Does anybody have any ideas? Maybe a cineplex? He also is looking to add two more restaurants and also at certain parcels for apartments. He said the rental market is stronger now than the condo market. As for another office building, those looking for space tend to want to be Downtown right now. If a tenant approaches with a desire to be on the North Shore, it will be built. Also, a new parking garage will be necessary with new apartments, according to Kass.

I think that area needs some additional retail establishments, and a movie theater wouldn't be a bad idea either.
