This is all silly. Why are the Brits taking this so personally? BP - which yes, does stand for British Petroleum as much as KFC stands for Kentucky Fried Chicken, have royally screwed up. Nobody in the US has said this is the UK's fault. It is the responsibility of BP and it it right to stick them with all the costs of fixing it.

Obama's juvenile bravado aside, I would say the sliding stock value is an accurate assessment of how expensive this incident is going to be for BP. They will spend billions capping this well. They will spend billions cleaning the Gulf. They will spend billions paying federal fines. They will spend billions settling lawsuits. The current value of BP has nothing to do with our mouthy President and everything to do with a realistic outlook on the costs of this disaster. Most unfortunate for British pensioners I suppose, but I don't really see that as our problem.

Obama has shown his sheer incompetence this time. Way to go Obama....alienate one of the few countries that have stood alongside the United States when times were tough, even against the will of the British people. It's OK Barack. The new Conservative PM in the UK is wise enough to at least try to distance the UK from the US, at least while an incompetent, lying, socialist wannabe buffoon is in charge. Barack, you make George Bush look like a genius and I'm glad that many of my American friends realise this!

p.s. you do know that BP is a global corporation, right? It has nothing to do with the British government or the British people.

(despite the fact that the US owns just as much of BP as the United Kingdom and that BP is a global corporation).

...yet somehow, it's the fault of Britain and the British people. You are a moron.

BP is a global corporation yes, like most all big oil companies. There is a lot more land and people in the US than in England, of coarse there will be greater " investment" in the US.... And , the impact on the pensioners proportionately WILL be greater in Brit land. Trans Ocean is a Swiss Company. Shell Oil, Dutch, on and on. Does that make the impact on our environment any less? Of coarse not.
Call those of us who are mad as hell at BP morons if you like, just shows you ignorance.

BP says they are NOT going to pay for the loss of income to the workers of the wells that he (barry) has put a moritorium on!...and I don't blame them! We should NOT be shutting down all the wells!..We should be starting at square one and design and build back up wells next to the one's built that can be a source of a transfer from one pipe to another!...just like Canada does! The gov't wants to keep taking and taking and taking...now they want to tax oil 512% for oil spill liability!!!...as if! they would keep this money for that...LIARS!!!! JUST MORE MONEY FOR THEIR COFFERS!!!

BP should not be paying workers. BP didn't shut down the wells..Obama did.
Let the unions take it up with Obama.

I love how now BP should pay for anything and everything.
You know this will just come back to the consumer in the end..don't you ?
