It is that simple. What it's not is politically expedient.
Define "politically expedient" in terms of international diplomacy and you'll see why it's not that simple. What do you expect the US to do, send ships out to stop the whaling ships? Or, um, work with the governments to make legal changes they dont want to make?
I agree. Her reasoning alone on the oil spill indicates she's not credible. First of all, Obama required extensive testing to be done before any more offshore drilling could commence. Secondly, she blames Obama for the oil spill because he lifted the moratorium. The moratorium was lifted on March 31st, three weeks before the spill. So, in three weeks time, it's Obama's fault.
The oil spill is consuming most of the Obama administration's time. Pressing issues like the IWC"s upcoming vote to allow some commercial whaling is on the back burner along with some other environmental issues. I suspect the bush administration spent most of their time focusing on 9/11. The oil spill is Obama's 9/11.

Please, President Obama, think of the future. You lifted the moratorium on offshore drilling and now we're suffering the worst environmental tragedy in U.S. history. You haven't stopped the oil from spilling in the Gulf; but you can uphold the moratorium against whale hunting.

All your cut and pasting did nothing to excuse 0bama from stating he will "ban all earmarks" and then signing dozens of bills with well over 10,000 earmarks.
He also stated he would close Gitmo... its not closed.

Either 0bama routinely makes asinine statements without thinking them thru, or he actually believes in what he says, but someone is pulling his strings for him, and he is unable to follow thru on his statements.
