In my short time on these boards it seems there are an equal amount of lefties and liberals who have a lot of disdain and disrespect for those who don't see it their way.
This thread is asking if there are any moderates out there. It was going civilized until,...Let me guess right winger?

Well, I can see how you would come to that conclusion. I guess I could have worded that better. I really don't begrudge anyone for having a different point of view than myself, but I'm tired of being automatically called a lefty upon disagreeing on an issue with a righty when my views are much more centrist. I sometimes agree on certain issues with the right and other times with the left, but the partisanship in this forum has gotten rabidly out of control to the point that most exchanges devolve into unproductive rhetorical warfare.

Well, thank you for addressing my comment in a civilized and pleasant tone and even saying you can understand my pov. Hey, maybe we are making progress. lol!
I'm the first to admit I can be a bit rabid myself although I do try and contain it. Because really there is no purpose of discussion if it always ends in anger and name calling etc. But sometimes my fingers type so fast they again ahead of my brain's editing process.

Moderate to me means wishy-washy fence sitter who wants to do things halfassed so nothing is ever accomplished. It doesn't mean they are liberal on some issues and conservative on others.

They are the "it's okay to raise taxes if it's just a little bit or it's the rich guys only." Or, "It's okay to go to war as long as you don't do X, Y or Z during combat." Or, "It's okay to arrest illegal aliens if they have no children and are felons but it's not okay if they have families." Or, it's okay to have a war on drugs/prostitution but you can only arrest dealers and hookers, not users and johns." You get the picture.

Well that takes the prize for putting the negative spin on the term. Bravo!

None of the scenarios you offered up describe my views in any way and I suspect that most moderates would feel the same way.

neo-cons are former democrats that left the democratic party because it moved to far to the left, they are the 'moderates'

I am a fiscal conservative.

People are free to do as they wish, as long as there are no laws broken.

When it goes bad, I won't pay for it.
