NOT good enough.....not anymore!
Not when it only takes ONE bad apple.....to singlehandedly, lay waste to the nation, in far less time!

The PEOPLE DESERVE BETTER, IMHO......and deserve to have ALL pertinent information, (regarding EVERYTHING in one's background).....all the way back to their BIRTH.

The American People have the RIGHT........ to have a thorough background check conducted on ALL they elect, BEFORE an election!
They should be 100% truthfully informed, so as to determine whether or not the politician could be a traitor to the US Constitution, a domestic or foreign enemy, a Revolutionary or truly care to serve in America's best interest...or not.
You would think so, anyway.

How about the American people spend a little more time educating themselves on the people they will be voting on. Its easy to point out how shoddy this politician is or that one, but in truth, it comes down to you and me. We put them there and we bear a good portion of the responsibility for the quality of the people we elect.

While there will always be those who will deceive, if they are not held accountable, then who is to blame but us?

Ok, most of you have made valid points, however I still stand by my statement . We should no longer tolerate the crap our elected officials subject us to, but like sheep, most do. They whine but do nothing to solve the problem.

Another option to consider is not re-electing someone who hasn't performed well in office. This, of course, puts too much of a burden on the American people, since it demands a sense of responsibility (and at least a minimum awareness of current events). But once the clowns in office get the message, we'll wind up with a much better class of elected officials.
That's why I'm for term limits, also I think congress should serve at least two terms before they get pensions and healthcare for life.

It would be great if state and local politicians had to meet their constituents every so often -- twice a year. Tell us what s/he's been up to, back it all up on his/her website, take questions. Meetings televised on public access TV. And -- have a hot line of staffers who would be there to answer calls. And s/he can answer them too from time to time.

That might cut into their quality time with hookers and lobbyists, but hey, it works for me!

Tell me please, is your screen name self descriptive? Also, venting a little frustration on these forums isn't a waste of time for those of us that know how to prioritize. At times it helps because you get to see other points of view that you otherwise would not have access to.
