I would love to see the end of Welfare as we know it.
Provide assistance to the disabled,i have no issue with that.
Provide Section 8 housing,provide government food no issue there.
No more giving women money to have more children out of wedlock.
Make it impossible for illegals to get any money as well.
Theres generations of people who only know welfare...
Lets have a program where they are forced to work for housing..
And the Basics.Some people on welfare have it better than the..
Working poor.

You seem to be living in 1995. Please look at the history of welfare reform and present-day workfare requirements, and eligible recipients and cut-off dates. You'll see that times have drastically changed, and your wish has just about come true.

Welfare today is nothing like it was originally planned and implemented.
There should be some form of social welfare but not what we have today.
What we have today is used and abused and there's no way to reliably track and enforce.

I knew Clinton and Repubs passed Welfare reform but i didnt realize it was that strict.
Ending welfare as an entitlement program;
Requiring recipients to begin working after two years of receiving benefits;
Placing a lifetime limit of five years on benefits paid by federal funds;
Aiming to encourage two-parent families and discouraging out-of-wedlock births.
Enhancing enforcement of child support

I agree. As a LIBERAL I want to help the poor but I came from a working family and we were taught that idle hands are the Devil's dream. And I believe that. If people are able bodied and cannot find meanningful work, then put them to work. They can start by cleaning up abandoned lots, using a weed eater along the roads and painting pools and community centers. Transportation, lunch, work attire and daycare will be provided. It might cost more than simply sending them a cheque every month but I think in the long run, it will cost less because folks will learn to get up in the morning and do a days labour which is what many of these folks never learned that got them where they are now.

I came from a "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" family, and I agree. While everyone needs help now and then, I think people should have to work for their welfare checks. Keep the section 8, WIC, food stamps, etc. to help feed and clothe, but put these folks to work.

Welfare is now limited to 5 years (the one thing that Bill Clinton did right)... now if only we can go after those who abuse it for those 5 years or those who abuse drugs (including marijuana, alcohol, tobacco)... particularly those areas with high welfare rates...

Add a drug test from time to time also.

Anchor babies qualify for welfare. LOL..do you really think they require a 2 year old to find a job ? They don't require the parents because the parents are not on the welfare, the kids are. The parents aren't legal citizens.

Care to explain that one ? I would advise you to take a closer look at that "job after two years" part in more detail.
It's not a general statement applicable to all in case you think it might be.
