Uh Oh, little detail the obama people overlooked, the EQUIPMENT.
It figures.
Gulf Coast Governors Leaving National Guard Idle - CBS Evening News - CBS News

Quote:
Gov. Bobby Jindal's message has been loud and clear, using language such as "We will only be winning this war when we're actually deploying every resource," "They (the federal government) can provide more resources" and "It's clear the resources needed to protect our coast are still not here."

But CBS News has learned that in addition to Louisiana's 1,053 troops of 6,000, Alabama has deployed 432 troops of 3,000 available. Even fewer have been deployed in Florida - 97 troops out of 2,500 - and Mississippi - 58 troops out of 6,000.
And again, Jindal gets caught lying:

Quote:
"Actually we asked the White House to approve the initial 6,000," Jindal said. "What they came back and said is the Coast Guard and BP had to authorize individual tasks."

But Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the national incident commander in charge of the government's response to the spill, said Jindal is just flat wrong.

"There is nothing standing in the governor's way from utilizing more National Guard troops," Allen said.

In fact, the Coast Guard says every request to use the National Guard has been approved, usually within a day. Now Jindal's office acknowledged to CBS News the governor has not specifically asked for more Guard troops to be deployed.
Resources? What do you call the rest of the 4,947 hands that are just being set idle by Gov. Jindal?

Hey just maybe!!! if they could get the EQUIPMENT they could use the "extra" hands instead of having them all over the place causing more confusion.
He didn't lie, he just understands MORE than you and all the other accusers because he is there and you and all the "links" are not.
As far as the big shot that says he is wrong?
Do you really think he wants obama to fire him too?
No, he wants his job so better to keep his mouth shut.

As of today, the federal government has authorized a total of 17,500 National Guard troops across four Gulf states, all to be paid for by BP.

this would be due to the fact that when Sec of Defense Cohen (under clinton) re-organized the reserves/guard they sent most of the COMBAT ARMS units to the guard,,,the very same reson why the national guard NOW ends up deploying to places like Iraq

out of lousianna total 6000 troops, only about 1200 are of any value to a situation like this,,,you arent going to use Field Artillery for an oil spill

So sad..while local, state, federal and BP all bicker among themselves and the press, the oil continues to gush into the Gulf, killing almost all in it's path.

The military must have change drastically since when I was in. I never thought the day would come when a field artillery unit couldn't wield a mop and a broom, pick up a oil besotted bird or turtle.

...and just exactly what are a bunch of soldiers supposed to do, grab shovels, or toss bails of hay into the water? The US Navy might be able to pilot some skimmers, but what do you want US Army infantry troops, tank drivers and office workers to do?

Ooops, I forgot about the heavy artillery guys. Oh! Oh! ...and the radio operators, I'm sure they are very skilled at building sand berms and plugging oil wells.

Oh, they just want to gripe, complain, put people down, post their "links" written by people who read somebody else's "link".
Just what the people down there need, 1,000's of military that don't have a clue what to do because they were given nothing to work with or no orders to follow. It is just something that is done half#ss like everything obama does that is not on his agenda. Its like giving a starving person money to buy food and forgetting to tell them there is no food to be bought.
Hey, why doesn't he send them to Arizona? They are begging for them.
Maybe because obama doesn't want to, just like he evidently doesn't really want to help with Bobby Jendal's little problem. He looks better if he can say, "duh, well I offered the troops".
Well maybe Jendal is just on the wrong side.
