The more that "normal-looking" gays become integrated into society, the less they attend these gay pride events, which makes the unusual people stand out more with each year that passes. I'm going to sound like a conservative here, but as a gay guy who is reasonably concerned about public relations, I think it may be time to consider either ending these parades, or changing the name from "Gay Pride" to something different.

It's a pride parade.

The term 'gay' is very broad, so it includes all people of all different attitudes and preferences.

There certainly are plenty of "normal" people at these parades and gays that fit the masculine persuasion. Did you not hear about the Stanley Cup trophy being presented at the Chicago Pride by The Chicago Blackhawks?

I think you are very wrong and very bigoted. Parades are supposed to be fun, zany, and over-the-top.

Here is Trinidad Carnival. Should we associate every single straight brown person with silly costumes and promiscuous sexual innuendo?

Heteronormative brainwashing is a major problem with homosexuals. They think the more conservative they are the better off they will represent their community. They don't have to lift a finger and empathize with any individuals in their gay community, they only have to look a certain way in order to improve the community, and that is purely superficial and asinine.

It only makes them look stupid. Believe me. Nobody wants to see a group of gay men pretending to be ultra-masculine and conservative "acting" when we all know they like to suck on stiffies and have anal intercourse. Heteronormativity is stupid crap and it reflects their shame with homosexuality. The problem most people have with gays is the anal sex. They say "How can you have anal sex? OMG that is horrible and repulsive." If straights see a colorful gay guy prancing around in glitter shorts they just laugh and move on.

Why can't gays be prideful of the life style they choose to lead in public? As long as they aren't shoving it down the throats of straight men, I believe gay pride is just that gays being prideful. No one is forcing those who are straight to attend the parades.

I have no problem with it. This world is very hetrosexualist, and the gays deserve one day an year when an occasion is dedicated to them. Just one day wont take the rights away from anyone else

I think you're missing my point. There's nothing wrong with being proud of being gay or even being proud of being unusual in your appearance. I'm concerned that by calling it a "gay pride parade" and then allowing anyone to dress and behave however they want - no matter how outrageous - it gives a bad impression to society at large, and whether we like it or not, the public image of gays is something to be concerned about, in my opinion.

Looking at the pictures, it looks more like a "freak pride parade".
