From the OP's link...

In recent years, EPA has acted to dramatically improve America's air quality by designing and developing national programs that, when fully implemented, will achieve significant reductions in air emissions. The associated air quality benefits will lead to improved health, longevity, and quality of life for all Americans.

This is a good thing.

The Obama administration named as regional Environmental Protection Agency administrator a longtime critic of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, TCEQ. That administrator, Al Armendariz, is threatening to take over aspects of Texas air quality permitting at the end of this month.

Last June, members of the Texas environmental community met in Dallas with new EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, whom Rolling Stone magazine described as an “eco-warrior” and the most activist agency administrator in history.

Thank you President Obama.

Not an issue right now. This can be tackled later when people are back to work and the economy is better.

It's NOT a good thing for unemployment and the economy which is the most important thing right now. This has been like this for 16 years, a couple more isn't going to hurt anything. You guys would rather see more unemployment and unfed children and families just so you can continue your wealth stealing agenda.

Perhaps during the final quarter of Bush jobs started to leave the planet. But we had some of the best growth and income hikes in a decade during Bush and shortly after 9/11. I would give anything to have that income back again. You continue to use Bush as a punching bag, but he is not in the White House now is he? What is your guy doing to stop the crash besides spend until he drops. Will you squeel when gas prices start to rise again under Obama and the jobs marked fail to replace those that were lost?

If it were not for strict environmental regualtions we'd all be choking to death or dead by now. Thank goodness for the environmentalists. Too bad that the clueless, that do not see the long term benefits of regualtion get to utilize the clean air too.

Let me see if I understand you correctly.

We need jobs so that we can pay for our children's healthcare, so we put up with a company that destroys the health of our children so that we can get those jobs.

"The air pollution is localized and questionable in quatity."

I don't know your educational background, but I've worked in the environmental field since 2000. You could not be more wrong with the above statement.

Pollution is rarely 'localized'. Concerning air pollution in particular one only has to think of wind currents to realize it doesn't stay 'localized'.

As for the 'quantity'. Quantities are measurable with air monitors, so they are not 'questionable'. They are measured. Keep in mind various particulates are measured and they are measured for compliance of the federal CAA (Clean Air Act). If they are out of compliance then they have to take measures that will bring them into compliance or face consequences.

Most of the federal environmental regulations are promulgated to the states for oversight, inspection and compliance. States can set their own water and air standards as long as those standards are at least as strict as the federal standard. (that's a very, very short explanation) States revise standards on a regular base then submit those standards to the appropriate regional EPA for approval of those standards. For Texas, that would be EPA Region 6.

Most of you can go to your state's environmental quality website and find any of the information you need on air and water quality. You can find the current approved standards and probably interactive maps that would geographically tie air monitors with results.

yep, it has been this way for over 16 years, armageddon hasn't arrived now has it? I know you want to fear monger and say it's on it's way if we don't stop this madness NOW! I know you and your ilk don't care if the economy is in the crapper or more Americans are out of work. I'm assuming the WH pays you well for your propaganda pushing, so why would any of that matter to you?

Let the EPA have their way..the refineries will be hindered. Production will drop and prices will start to increase. The biggest increases will be in those cities farthest away from Texas as past history has shown. Best to start looking for your mass transit routes now.

It won't happen overnight but it will happen.
