NOW!! I am going to throw up. My fellow Catholics who are probably the one group that deserves the biggest slap on the back for putting Obama in the White House need to go take a shower in Holy Water and get their azzes to confession.

Ugh I need some alka seltzer.

We Catholics are biggest conflicted religious group in history.

HAHA! I totally agree. We Catholics are "liberal" but the Church doesn't really like it.

Agreed. Likewise, it's the state of your own marriage you should be concerned about, not someone else's in a "red" or a "blue" state.

The only ones getting married are conservatives . You can't divorce if you never marry .

Anyone care to shed some light on this for me? I'm confused!

Who cares? Red or Blue, Dem or Republican doesn't mean much considering the mobile society and changes over the past 40 years (or more). Gay or straight, married or divorced, red-neck, or ivory-tower, none of us live in the Constitutional Republic any more. The Supreme Court no longer sticks to its job description while congress and the President are just after their own re-election power. We currently elect the best sociopaths who lie, cheat, and steal without remorse or consequence.

In truth, the National Institute for Healthcare Research says weekly
churchgoers throughout the U.S. are less apt to divorce than people who claim
"no religion" and those who attend religious services less than once a week.
Devout Catholics have especially low divorce rates - apparently because
Catholic parishes often take the responsibility of marriage preparation and
enrichment more seriously than Protestant churches do.

US divorce rates and geography
Dude thanks for putting this
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvss/mar%26div.pdfup and proving that red states just don't seem to value marriage as much as they pretend. Do the math and you will note that, the bible belt has higher % of MARRIAGES ending in divorce, So you just proved yourself wrong in that divorce rate in red states are higher because there are higher number of marriages.

Yeah ! conservatives win again (in hypocracy).
You are also wrong that Blue staters shagin it without getting married.

Guess what Red states continue to win the battle of family values, as they lead in teenage pregnancies yes PREGNANCIES not just births so that you
won't bring the abortion excuse.: Led by Arkansas, and followed by South Dakota. Yep the state whose senator (Thun) accused Dashle of not sharing South Dakotans family values.

But wait it get better, red state also lead in pregnancies out of wedlock,
so much for your theory of blue starters sagging it without getting married.

I won't even go to red states leeching of federal dollars, too easy!

Agreed, so why don' conservative for Red state shut the **** up about family values and "LIBERALS FORM NORTHEAST" messing up American's family values, when they are doing a great job of it on their own.

Oh my gosh!

Statistics is a tool used to interpret data. Data iterpretation has an element of creativity. Statistics unto themselves are pretty much meaningless without proper perspective, analysis plan and data collection integrity.

Statistics like firearms have a great potential for misuse and abuse. To think the stats are 'unloaded' can be fatal.
Try to negate the numbers but X = no. marriages; y = no. divorces.
There is or is not a marriage and there is or is not a divorce.
No almost married, no almost divorced.
Marriages. Divorces.

How do you mess with those numbers.
Please inform me because I don't understand how simple numbers can be interpreted.
There are no other values involved.
Simply numbers of marriages and divorces in individual states.

And you learned this how?
Or is it just your opinion?

Apparently most of those who don’t take marriage seriously live in the red states.

If that were what the article was talking about, you would be correct, people that didn't get married wouldn't affect the divorce rate at all.

However, the divorce rate referenced in the article is number of divorces per 1000 people each year. For that statistic, more people getting married and getting divorces affects the divorce rate a lot. So yes, if Liberals don't get married, the divorce rate would be very low.

Another way to finagle how you get your figures to make real numbers fit your political views.
The rate would still be the same. They’re basing the stats on base 1000.

If the red states have a higher incidence of divorce per marriage, I'm not really seeing it.

Psst!

Women who marry at eighteen and nineteen (for which the South is famous) become pregnant teenagers.
