Imagine my surprise-- there isn't even gay marriage to degrade "real" marriage in these places!

I mean, is this bizarro world? Massachusetts, which has had gay marriage the longest, is tied at LAST place for divorce, just before DC (which just legalized gay marriage). Meanwhile, Arkansas, which has made gay ADOPTION illegal, never mind gay marriage, is at #2 for divorce!

Anyone care to shed some light on this for me? I'm confused!

Because many good "Christians" from these states, who also scoff at the concept of gay marriage, defile the "sanctity of marriage" as an institution.... and are basically hypocrites.

I am not surprised at these facts.... it basically shows that marriage as an "institution" is nothing more than a joke... more so in the red states

Rednecks beat the crap out of their wives and the wives get fed up and leave their husbands. Blame it on women's liberation.

'Cause maybe Massachusetts isn't Sodom as some right-wingers would want the world to believe. That we can think past steroetypes, and really do believe in family and community.

Darn women, expecting to be treated like human beings and not punching bags.

Default more labels to find the differences to destroy unity

An 'association' rather than 'cause and effect' relationship?

In blue states they don't bother getting married?

The blues moved to a red looking for job and then get divorced?

The two Petersens from IL and CA never got divorced. Do you suppose there may be more divorce substitutions taking place in blue states?

Strategically it may be more advanatgeous in an economically depressed state/blue, to not get divorced and work out a deal to mutual satisfaction?

Creative statistics is becoming a money maker to employ statisticians who want a piece of the political chum slick as they begin to nudge lawyers aside and make their profession recession proof as well.

Nothing like presenting isolated stats to intentionally mis-lead and divert attention.... unless its just for fun.

Marriage, divorce.
What's more easy than that to get statistics.

Do you have any evidence that these points are true. Seems like you just pulled them out of your ***.

Those aren't creative statistics, those are the facts. Sorry you don't like them.

I've wondered the same thing since moving to North Carolina. Everybody here goes to church, and most are divorced. I don't get it.
