Obama should have been a social worker instead of President. Arizona's law is unjust in his eyes because the poor little illegals will be sent back home, now the deprived Muslims need to be taught how to blow things up with better results. He's a reverse bigot. Everyone else except tax paying Americans are good in his eyes.

All you can hope for is that when NASA's rocket building skills get into the wrong hands (have you ever seen a program run by the govt not screw up in some way?) that Al Queda enters the latitude/longitude of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave (and not NYC) into the rocket's GPS unit and take out the clown responsible for this stupidity.

If you read the purpose for NASA the last thing it exists for is to improve relations with any specific religious groups, Muslims in this case. What advances in science do Muslims have to offer, that specifically advance space exploration and aeronautics?

Well Al Queda has shown us that Fundamentalist Muslims make excellent ballast when it comes to explosive devices. Tell Achmed that sitting on the top of a rocket being launched into space will get him into heaven with 70 virgins waiting for him, and they'll be arriving with ladders to climb onto the rocket

Also they'll save us from having to use cute little chimps as guinea pigs in the next space race

It's not the Arabic Outreach it is the Muslim Outreach.
There's a difference, you know.

What have Muslims invented?

They are called "Arabic" numerals only because they were invented in an area controlled by Muslim Arabs at that time. Many historians believe the arabic numeral system was actually invented by Persian Jews.

I dunno.
Maybe the answer to that lies somewhere aboard the International Space Station.....now?
Or.....they have the gist on the outcome of the stars aligning a certain way, come December, 2012?
Maybe....."somebody" knows "something" the rest of us just ain't supposed to, and Muslims are privy to the info. over the rest?

Where's Bond.....James Bond?

If NASA is not mining the Arab world for talent, then they ought to be. If talented Muslim physicists, engineers, and mathematicians feel like they cannot work in concert with NASA scientists, then this is a serious problem for the space agency. I see nothing wrong with the NASA administrator appearing on Arab, Chinese, or Australian television stations and telling anyone who will listen that we want to cooperate with their scientists. Only someone driven completely insane by partisanship would think this is somehow a bad thing.

Astronomy is a global undertaking, and we cannot maintain observations and communications with stars, planets, and spacecraft without having friendly ground stations in all parts of the world. Muslim astronomers have historically been essential to our understanding of the cosmos, and that hasn't changed due to the actions of Al-Queda, GWB, or Obama.

Spaceflight is a difficult proposition, and we need to draw on the global talent pool if we are going to successfully build ships and machinery to exploit the resources that are out there beyond LEO.

I somewhat support the current plan for NASA. It lays important groundwork that was ignored over the last 10 years. The best thing about the new plan is the end of the Ares-I launch vehicle or "Widowmaker" as it is nicknamed in honest engineering circles. Any rocket scientist worth his salt will tell you that putting people together with solid rockets is a great way to kill astronauts and waste money.

I disapprove of not going back to the moon the establish a permanent outpost. I approve of maintaining the ISS. I strongly approve of involving home-grown private industry. I disapprove of not having a hard-and-fast mid-term goal. I approve of setting goals appropriate to the level of funding it is politically possible to gather for NASA.

Anyone who doesn't have mixed feelings about any aspect of something as complicated and difficult as a comprehensive plan to explore space doesn't know what they are talking about and is just using the issue as a political football in their insane loser's game of partisan politics.

If that's you, then please go screech about oil, guns, or abortion, and leave the real thinking to the grownups.

My gut reaction when I read this was...

WTF..the Muslims treat women as second class citizens, if that and here we are trying to further science with the men only, and then I thought..why not work with those countries that have already gone to space with us to further innovation.

And then I came to the conclusion that we are broke, they are not so if we cozy up to them then we can get them to build the next set of ships.
