It seems like every time the discussion of "successful" blacks is discussed, it never fails, someone white always mentions black athletes or entertainers. As if the the ONLY successful blacks that exist are athletes are entertainers.
What's funny is there are more white athletes and entertainers than blacks.
There are many more successful black business owners and executives that have net worth's into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
I really think that a lot of whites think that the only successful blacks on the planet are involved with entertainment/TV or athletics.
It's really sad to hear non whites say something like that in public, it clearly shows how much they really know about blacks.
Athletes and entertainers have high visibility. It's easier to recall the name of a black American from these categories. Whites know there are many successful black businessmen/women, like that guy in the movie Pursuit of Happiness. The name of the businessman? Not a clue, but Will Smith rocked the part, didn't he?
That's something, I think whites do not understand.
Many fail to realize the a lot of what blacks do is done to CORRECT things and "even" things up, if you will, not as a backlash towards whites.
BET, although irrelevant with many blacks now, was a response to lack of representation of blacks on TV. It's not about "hey we don't have WET" so why do you have BET?".
That's where MANY whites fall off. They clearly do not understand blacks and why blacks respond they way we do.
IMO, they DO NOT attempt to understand. It's more so about them and how they feel.
You've made a great point. One that get's overlooked.
The problem is that whites DO understand and we want no part of it. Life is unfair and this cannot be corrected it can only be navigated. When whites find themselves in a situation where an individual expects life to be fair and the tab for the unfairness to be arbitrarily assigned to be paid by the nearest white guy we want out. If the only way to avoid this is to avoid those who feel entitled to a fair life, then we will avoid those individuals. Life is unfair even for white people.
