When it comes to gay marriage there are a few routes you can take, the main ones are against it, for civil unions, or for it. If you only support one of the first two then you are supporting the idea of 'separate but equal.'

There are a few posters who said that they were against 'separate but equal' yet are very conservative. It's contradictory to believe in it for some instances and not for others, either you do or you don't.

This thread is a continuance of:

Separate but equal

Well for me the option would be civil unions and marriage. If 2 people love each other then they should have the same rights as every other couple regardless of sexuality.

I've been with my partner for 28 years.

That bulging sack of Moderator cut: language named Rush Limbaugh has been married 4 times.

John McCain left his wife while she had cancer to marry some brainless pill popping beer heiress.

And you people want to school ME about marriage?

1101, congratulations to you both. I'm straight, but some of the most devoted couples I've ever known have been gay or lesbian. You can school me any time!

And what is your reasoning behind that? Why don't you feel gay and lesbian couples should be allowed to marry, just as a heterosexual couple can? And to not even allow them the contract of civil union is even harder for me to understand.

Because that is my belief. No need to clarify it. Just going to start an argument I am not in the mood for.

I agree, you have every right to be angry. 2 unrelated people older than the age of consent should be allowed to marry. End of story.

Congratulations, 28 years is awesome.
