(WXYZ) - He’s on the hook for tens of thousands of dollars in back child support. But he says the boy is not his son—and has the DNA test to prove it. So why might the state send a local man to jail for failing to pay up for a child that isn’t his?

He has a DNA test to prove it's not his son, but still has to pay child support

That is horrible. I do hope that they get that mess fixed.

I know in some states that if you are married to a woman and she has a kid but not by the husband it is the husbands responsibility if they get divorced.

I have heard cases like this that have happened, and yes this is a lot of BULL. Where is the logic in this. But cases as this one have happened in the past, i remember hearing about some quite a while ago, i don't think this is right, i think this stinks, but then again, Our judges they are another story. Do Men now have to think twice before getting involved with a women who has children from another marriage? or make sure you stay married to this person for life. I know in some States whether the children belong to the Man or not, they are held responsbile, what states i am not sure.
I myself think this sucks.

This is nothing to do with liberalism, nothing to do with politics, it's just a gross injustice.

He should be able to get it set aside, but it is certainly conceivable to me that it won't happen. It's pretty hard to get a judgment from such a long time ago set aside.

That's f-up. Unless the man has legally adopted the child, don't you think the support should be coming from the real dad?
