Although I am the farthest thing from a Bush fan, PEPFAR was a huge commitment and he stuck to it. Fully funded, on target, by 2008. I hope Obama will do the same (but without the abstinence and family planning ideological handcuffs)

AIDS is a self-inflicted plague. Some day a vaccine may be discovered that prevents infection. But until then throwing money at the problem will not reduce, much less solve, the problem.

Not entirely self-inflicted, but there are reasons that certain demographics tend to have the highest rate of it.
