This was already posted in another thread but it seems to be getting ignored so I think it deserves its own thread, because all this complaining about it is so misguided its not even funny.
Awe, <sniff> I feel more introspective now.
Muslims, following the Islamic religion, murdered thousands of people in the name of their god "near Ground Zero", and they still murder thousands more in the name of their god and religion.
Sorry, but in my opinion no Muslim/Islamic anything should be built there. If Muslims want to clean up the image of their religion, from one of hate, murder and intolerance, they can find some other way to do it.
Images of Muslims dancing in the streets the day of 9/11 still burns hot, and building a community center to cater to the needs and comforts of Muslims, is not going to water down those images.

"What can the Free World learn from the Unfree World? Maybe something about the Cairo Declaration of Human Rights in Islam adopted by the foreign ministers of the OIC in 1990. In dire contrast to the United Nation's 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Islamic document recognizes only human rights sanctioned by Shariah — which, basically, leaves women and non-Muslims without human rights."

Bears repeating: the Islamic document recognizes only human rights sanctioned by Shariah — which, basically, leaves women and non-Muslims without human rights.
That's not just from Islamic extremists. That represents all Muslims.
If we follow the logic set by the Obama administration to abandon Gitmo because of its symbolism, a mosque must not be built at ground zero.
Imagine OBL proclaiming. "not only did we destroy the symbol of the America's capitalism but we built a mosque in its place!"
A mosque at ground zero would hand Isalmic terrorists an absolute publicity coupe' for bragging rights and recruiting.
Still want to build that mosque?
What is the point of those of you who are continually trying to put forth the idea that a mosque will be built AT GROUND ZERO?
