That is true. And African American obesity rates in the U.S are nearly double that of whites.

So while it was a nice try for a few of the posters in this thread to point out that red states have the highest obesity rates, it is really your fellow democrats that put them in the top 10. Because the african american voters in these red states vote democratic pretty much down the line. Nuff said.

This is how it was in the South when my mother grew up...
God made gravy , dipping the butter biscuit in the gravy is what God intended . You eat and work hard , what size you are is what it is.

I am amused to think that a desk job working only your fingers to tendonitis is actually more dangerous than logging, or Bering Sea crabbing or other outside hard physical labor. The loggers may get hit by a tree but the keyboarders get obesity.

According to most studies the overall obesity rate of the US is just over 30 percent. i wonder what different criteria this study uses?

We must remember that the red states in the South have a large African American population which would count significantly to the obesity rates.

African American obesity is a serious problem. Though all the numbers should shock everyone, considering the government will be monitoring everyone's BMI through the HCR mandated Electronic Health Record.

But the point is the OP was trying to show that red states are fatter. When in fact, it is mostly African American's who tip the scales so to speak to give these States the place on his top ten list. And they in fact vote democrat.
