The only thing I think could in any way be considered a 'win' in Iraq would be something of long term benefit to the US and the coalition. WHAT is that likely to be?

It's very easy to dismiss collateral damage when it's happening on the other side of the world. If any warmongers here lost a family member to collateral damage, on US soil, I bet your opinion on war would change instantly. And if it didn't, I'd suggest psychiatric care.

But if we don't take care of them over there...they are all going to come over here! Don't you listen to the President, Aqualung. Although in fairness... as mentioned on the Jon Stewart show -that is a long way to swim from Iraq.

We won't EVER leave Iraq, I guarantee you that. The new president who comes into office won't do anything. Don't you guys see that? Do you think we are getting ready to leave when we are building one of the largest embassies and 14 PERMANEMENT bases? Also do you guys honestly think that the reason the problems in Iraq are getting worse is out of our control? Heck no, it is designed to be that way. We get the iraqis to go blow themselves up so we can go in there build up bases, steal the oil, and install a puppet government. By the time these Iraqies wake up we will have already gone in there and gained totalitarian control over their economy and social lives. There will only be, "victory" if we will get in Iraq is if we get out of there and leave these people alone. The only reason they hate us is because we are always going in there and messing with their politics and their oil. What would you think if China came into our country and decided to build 12 permanent bases? Wouldn't you be pissed off too?

Also might I add that the war on terror is a pretty stupid one at that. So how exactly do you win a war on a war tactic? Oh wait, you don't. I guess that is the point!

The last poster who stated we may never leave IRAQ was likely the smartest of the group. We have to much at stake there to leave.

Here is what is really happening:

If we would leave or reduce our Soldiers below a certain point that we lost control, Iran's troops would likely come into the Country and take over. This would cause a short bloodbath but they would take over. Most of our Presidential Candidates understand this and will never pull out as a result.

We have Billions of dollars of equipment and investments in Iraq, that would be nearly impossible to pull out.

There is almost 50,000 contractors currently in Iraq who are invested in staying. Our military is paid to protect them.

We need to fight to gain greater control of the Country for our LONG TERM occupation. Civilians will have to die in the mean time while we fight our way to the terrorists hiding behind them.

Dingler please...provide me your Middle Eastern credentials. The administration has been exactly right in every prediction thay made so far, we should listen to what they are prognosticating now. Obviously had we not sojourned into Iraq, Iran would not be in the position of strength it currently finds itself. Are you suggesting we have not already been responsible for the deaths of thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of civilians? Are you suggesting we now go ahead in a campaign of extermination and kill all the civilians in where...Baghdad? Anwar province? Just say central Iraq and call it even?

Do you think that action - aside from being the most evil and immoral activity since the Holocaust - might cause resentment on the part of Muslims around the world and perhaps backfire against us?

Would God support us in this extermination effort?

No, I can see you have all the answers.

Uh, The Dick said he believed we would be greeted as liberators and welcomed in Iraq, THAT's exactly right?

So why didn't we just leave Saddam in power? If we're just going to start killing off civilians then there is no need to 'save' the Iraqi people from Saddam if we're going to act just like him.

Iraqis weren't involved in Sept. 11th
