The purpose of government isn't to ensure a fair outcome, its there to ensure that everyone has the opportunity. Theres no garuntees in life, and any attempt to garuntee something is part of complete failure. Prosperity comes mainly from hard work, some luck. Sometimes you work hard and hit bad luck and stuff doesn't work out so you need to work harder or wait it out. Rarely your a lazy POS and get lucky.

This thread is another conservative circle jerk, which is why we're just watching.

And if this gets deleted, it just proves the point.

Hey, atleast he is reading it (or did he say watching lol!). Maybe he is learning something.

Maybe it's finally making sense to all the liberals reading this and they are too ashamed to admit that they use to believe in redistribution of the wealth.

What we already know about liberals which includes but is not limited to:

1. They like to confuse charity with social justice (or let's call it what it really is, redistribution of wealth)
2. They like to lecture Christians about social justice even when many of them aren't current practitioners of the faith.
3. They are a generous people, well, generous with other people's tax dollars that is.
4. They cry that we have to sacrifice for the greater good, yet they will not do the sacrificing themselves. Practice what you preach, people.
5. They are obsessed with the concept of fairness even though life isn't always fair.
6. Many have an obsession of tearing down the traditional family structure, pervert marriage, and celebrate death and hedonism (if it feels good, do it even if it might kill you)
7. The liberals in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry have elitist attitudes towards conservative, rural people and seem to be contempt of history (all about the young, fresh, future and tossing the past away)
8. Generally are pro-illegal and 3rd world immigration for the sake of helping those advance and take wealth and knowledge back to their home countries (assuming they go back in the first place), just as long as said immigrants don't move into their neighborhoods or attend their local schools.
9. The trend of Leftists (more so the atheist crowd) to bash Christianity at every opportunity and shred it apart, but not dare lift a finger toward Islam or Muslims and "liberal Christians" that are too complacent to understand that their faith is under attack

No, it's because libs have nothing to say that wouldn't prove everything posted on this "conservative circle jerk" thread by non-Obama fans to be correct.

As Obama says, "But, ummm, uhhhh, that's OK!" .

Forgot to add to #7.

7. The liberals in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry have elitist attitudes towards conservative, rural people and seem to be contempt of history (all about the young, fresh, future and tossing the past away)

Addition: Contempt of history except if they are blaming something on Bush.

As OP, I can tell you sincerely, I'd like to hear some commentary on the tradeoff between prosperity and "fairness" from those who opt for more fairness as they define it. The original post did nothing to disparage your beliefs.

Or are you unwilling to admit that there is a tradeoff?

This issue is huge in our political life today.

When government becomes as large as it is today, over 40% of the economy, we have a massive drain on the economy both from taxation and overregulation. This brings everyone's quality of life down. Every wage earner loses large amounts of money to government at the local, state and federal levels. Every business must be able to pay the huge cost of government taxes, requirements and reporting, or go out of business.

Look around. The economy is at a standstill. Nobody wants to spend money, since everyone is either afraid of being laid off, afraid of the impending explosion of new taxes, or continuing to lose ground every year as raises and benefits disappear. Investors won't invest in America, because things are catastrophically bad, and doomed for at least another 5 years. Businesses can't hire workers, since government policy punishes them for doing so, and no one can buy their products or services anyway.

Anyone who can't see that government redistribution of wealth is not only the epitome of unfairness, but also an unequivocal killer of prosperity, is blind or dumb or both.
