I don't get it. The Republicans/Conservatives in this country seem to literally be insane! Screaming that President Obama and Democrats are ruining the country, commies, socialists, Islamo-fascists intent on destroying us all. Then they try to pretend like the Bush years never happened, and that the country was in great shape in January 2009 when Obama took office.

The only way I seem to be able to understand this insanity is to either attribute it to racism, ignorance, or insanity, or a combination of all three.

I thought the hate was out of control when Clinton was in office, but that was nothing compared to what's going on today

The only reason why anyone LISTENS to the over the top paranoia and hatred is because of the economy being crap.

For a great example of how insane, and dishonest, the extreme Right can be.

They think a couple of Jews are behind a conspiracy to adopt Sharia law into the US Constitution.

I guess you missed the GWB years when the Left's hatred was so over-the-top that they named a mental disorder after it: The Bush Derangement Syndrome.

By the way nice straw man you're erecting. I don't think any conservative pretends that the country was in great shape in January 2009. But what they do complain about is that Obama's policies have prolonged the agony and, in some cases, have actually made the situation worse. For example, almost 3 trillion in deficits in just 2 years' time.

Liberals just love high unemployment, soaring deficits, high debt, ecological disasters, high taxes, and illegal immigrants. What's not to love?

I have a feeling that it's just a few misguided (and vocal) nutjobs that give the rest of the conservatives a bad name. In my conversations with the average republican, I have found them to be no more or less insane, racist, or ignorant than the average democrat. I must admit, I do tend to sense a much weaker comprehension of global interconnectedness with many republicans - but that could just be my own biases.

To me it's a strategy. My belief is the republican party made the decision before the last presidential election to not seek the office in a serious way. Let the dems take control of a huge mess knowing they'd goof it up too. That way the republicans can just sit back point fingers, roll their eyes and blab off like idiots and retake the White House in 2012. This country is in serious trouble with these two pathetic parties.

I didn't miss it, there was a whole lot of Democratic neurosis during the Bush administration but what we are see to day is downright pathologically psychotic.

insanity on the right? how about the left? first bush was not a conservative despite his claims, he was in fact a liberal. too much spending, not having a spending bill he didnt like until the democrat took over congress didnt help matters.

but obama, who campaigned against the bush policies, and campaigned on fiscal responsibility, and then turns around and out spends bush by a factor of three, and the really insane part is that the liberals DEFEND obamas spending. remember that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. obama is doing the same thing that has been done in other countries for centuries, and the result has always been the same, financial collapse. do we not learn from history in this country? oh sorry we dont teach history in this country anymore, at least not real history.
