Since national healthcare as proposed and passed never came close to emulating the British National Health Service, except in the most feverish minds of its critics, I surely can't fathom why this would be cause of celebration to anyone other than possibly some British Tory.

Haven't you heard? The democrats would like to have a look again at the public option.

But surely you must know that obamacare is the foot in the door of a single payer system, something obama, Frank, Rahm and a bunch of other top level democrats talked about.

For years and years, the Left held up UHC in Canada, UK as the ideal, something to word toward, something to emulate. Again, this is just more confirmation that their ideas are disastrous and just plain bad.

I'm just curious. Where would you rather have your tax dollars go?
Health Care for our citizens or unnecessary military spending and wars of
choice abroad?

I have never heard anyone hold up NHS (in the UK) as an ideal. Most people consider it a mess, although the sentiment is generally followed up by a desire to fix it, not dismantle it. And you are aware that the Canadian and UK systems are worlds apart, right?

Given those two choices, given the FACT that the HC system the government already runs, which has TENS OF TRILLIONS in unfunded liabilities (and that's with paying doctors/hospitals about 70% of their fee), the choice is simple.

"down the tubes"? They're suggesting a change in administrative practices. Doing away with NHS would be the death knell for any UK government.

You probably haven't researched the health care issue. The UK nationalized system not a "benchmark" for Obamacare. It's never been proposed. Did you read the article? It's still a public money system.
