I agree. This is all good for the midterms. FLOTUS and her luxury jaunt OUT of the US, spending money, stimulating economies, OTHER than the US's.

The imagery/optics of this five-star luxury vacation when on Friday the horrible jobs numbers came out......as the saying goes, don't interrupt your competition while they are in the midst of destroying themselves.

But while most of the country is pinching pennies and downsizing summer sojourns - or forgoing them altogether - the Obamas don't seem to be heeding their own advice. According to CNN, the group is expected to occupy 60 to 70 rooms, more than a third of the lodgings at the 160-room resort. Not exactly what one would call cutting back in troubled times.
Out of touch, tone deaf, disconnect.

Michelle Obama's Lavish Spain Vacation Sparking Criticism

And while Mrs. Obama and President Obama have tried to encourage tourism in Gulf Coast areas not impacted by the BP oil spill, she is highlighting the beauty of Spain's Mediterranean beaches before the First Family travels to Florida's Gulf Coast on Aug. 14 for a weekend stay.
Can't wait for the exclusive, elite Martha's Vineyard vacation coming up.

Meanwhile at the five-star luxury Villa Padierna, where the group have chosen to spend their mini-break, preparations were under way for Marbella's event of the year – a star-studded charity gala hosted by Hollywood A-listers Antonio Banderas and Eva Longoria.

And then there's this from The Telegraph just 3 hours after the article you posted:

Michelle Obama is under fire from her husband's foes for the expense to
American taxpayers of taking her younger daughter Sasha on a "girls'
holiday" with friends to a luxurious Spanish retreat.

[...]Andrea Tantaros, a Republican party strategist, caricatured the
First Lady as a "modern-day Marie Antoinette" in a scathing New York
newspaper column.[...]

[...]The First Lady and Sasha, nine, are not travelling with 40 friends, as
has been reported, but with two friends and four of their daughters, plus four
staff members, an official said. She and her friends are paying for their
rooms, food and travel
in Spain[...]
