Bill Kristol: Republicans Should 'Just Shut Up' About Charlie Rangel's Ethics Charges

The next time Republicans complain about Rangel, I want them to think about Bill Kristol.

No, its great politics for them.

Rangel is loved in Harlem, he isn't going anywhere. He lost his chairmanship already, thats about the extent of what congress is going to do to a popular representative.

Republicans are just playing the game. The Democrats are strapped with baggage they don't want or need, and can't get rid of. Republicans are just going to say they are all corrupt because of it.

Politics as usual.

At this point I believe I am more of an Independent and I don't like the way this has been handled. Resignation seems to be the honorable decision.

This doesn't inspire greater confidence in government.

No, they shouldnt shut about him or Waters. In fact, they need to speak out more on it. They really havent said enough, and let's compare. If that were a Republican, everyone from Pelosi to Reid to Obama would be slamming him. The politicians who are Republican really havent said much and theyve been far more respectful to Rangel than he deserves.

This hack at the Huffington needs to wake up to reality. He wants the GOP to be quiet yet theyve said very little so far on this. And he doesnt seem to have a problem with the Democrats throwing a friggin lavish birthday fundraiser bash for Mr. Crook Rangel. And not only are they throwing some ritz bash for him, they are doing it Aug 11. Two months past his actual birthday. Shame on the fools who attend this and shame on those who give money. Pathetic

Rangel does not have integrity anymore and does not deserve honor for his service. He lied and cheated. He was elected to do good for the people and follow the law. He didnt. He failed, and his war time service has nothing to do with that. I dont care how nice of a guy they say he is either. He is corrupt and he served himself during his tenure instead of keeping all focus on the people.

I don't think either Party should blast the other about ethics.

I think Rangel needs to be made an example of. Same with Waters. Its time to show both sides, it doesnt matter who you are, if you get caught being unethical and/or a crook, youll face the consequences.
But I dont think theyll get that lesson. Rangel so far appears to be getting a slap on the wrist. Waters will probably get the same or no punishment. They are throwing a lavish birthday bash for Rangel.

They wont learn a thing from this just like they never have. Most think they are above the law and they get treated that way, even when they are caught. These clowns are suppose to be ethical and should be held to higher standards. Yet they arent. Some of them are self-serving crooks who care very little about serving the people except when it comes around to election time. And why the hell do they get judged and punished by other members? It should be an outside group that has nothing to gain, nothing to lose. It should be a group made up of THE PEOPLE. Not other politicians. No wonder they get away with so much.

I think everyone should be jumping on Rangel or any other politician who violates the public trust. We pay them a good wage, great benefits and grant them the honor of shaping a nation. When one violates the trust they deserve to be held accountable. There should never be a free pass. The same for when a cop is caught on the take, or looking the other way when its a friend or family member involved. Worse still planting evidence.
These politicians feel bullet proof. They protect one another and even flaunt it. They deserve to be held to the highest of standards, and deserve to be brought low when they are caught. Mr. Rangel is an example of whats wrong in politics. This isn't a party issue. This is a DC issue.

The man had FOUR subsidized apartments. Taking up locations which belonged to those who were poor. Why isnt the left complaining about the 4 families which should have been living in those homes?

This is a prime example as to how the system can be ripped off..

It came from Bill Kristol, closet Democrat wearing Republican clothes. 'Nuff said. Toss in circular file.
