By "foreign big business liberals," do you mean unsentimental capitalists? That's a new one, but okay.

Dont see how America is an entitlement society, could you explain? Do you mean individuals on welfare? Indiv welfare has been cut to the bone starting around 1996. Do you mean people unemployed as a result of the financial crisis? Do you mean corporate welfare? Do you mean the baby boom bubble/Social Security/health care crisis? What exactly do you mean? Speak up, man!

Let them expire and set new goals.
Maybe something like cut spending.
End the war, end all spending and reduce the debt.
Once you have that in place.
Put in REAL tax cuts I'm thinking something like no income tax.
3% fed sales tax and then we can all live a normal life and government will be under the boot of the american people for a change.
But we all know that will never happen so while we wait for government to reduce spending and get off our backs we can dream that these little "tax cuts" are really tax cuts for anyone.
A tax cut to me means I pay low taxes not this illusion government spreads every year come election time.

15% to 10% is actually a 33% reduction (5/15 = .333) and
39% to 36% is a 7% reduction (3/39 = .0769)
So the disparity was greater than 5% vs 3% it was 33% vs 7%

Also what Cantor actually said was, “If you have less revenues coming in to the federal government and more expenditures, what does that add up to? certainly you’re going to dig the hole deeper…”

Both taxes and spending need to be addressed. Reverting to old(higher) tax rates will not help without cutting spending as well.

All of you screaming about tax cuts AND the deficit... Hypocrites.
Your title needs to be fixed. It should read:

"Cantor: If Bush tax cuts are extended, deficits will go up..."

Yes, but apparently there is no way to fix a title. At least not one I can find You are correct.

I benefitted from the reduced dividend and capital gains tax. They should reinstate them, as I didn't see one penny from the stimulus checks or housing loans.

I couldn't see it as a benefit. The tax cuts couldn't even offset reduced income growth (on average, income actually shrunk for the middle class). The federal receipts were considerably lower add to the national deficits and debt. How exactly did you benefit?

1996 cut federal, but they have expande it each year...especially at state levels

there are currently 50 million people collecting welfare/food stamps

there are 10-15 million people in shelters but not on welfare

there are currently 10 million people collecting UE

there are over 50 million seniors collecting SS

that's over 1/3 of the ENTIRE population...collecting an entitlement

how can you NOT say we are an entitlement society
