I spend a lot of time in Europe and did notice a lot of anti-Americanism during the last administration to the point where I felt I had to defend America wherever I went despite the fact I didn't agree with much of what we were doing internationally.
Since Obama came to office however the mood has changed greatly. We are beginning to win back much of the respect we lost under Bush.
So, conservatives, perhaps you can stop your "Name one positive thing Obama has done thus far" threads. Then again, who needs the rest of the world. Right, righties?
Obama is keeping his word and withdrawing all troops, so I do not think that he would ever be as hated or resented by the Iraqi people as the "Commander Guy" that illegally invaded and occupied their country.
Honestly, most people around the world don't know or care much about American domestic politics. I mean, do you care about the conflict between the Han and Ughyrs in Xinjang province, know who the President of Indonesia is, or have an opinion on the trade dispute between Hungary and Slovakia?
To the rest of the world, America is not the center of their universe or even an important part, just as we don't think Beijing is the axis about which the Earth turns. They are much more interested in the next big movie coming out of hollywood than they are about troop deployments in Afghanistan (unless they are Afghan) or healtcare reform.
They don't know how many political parties we have, or what motivates our "grassroots" nor do they much care. So, there's the long version of the answer to your question.
How do you know all that? Did you ask people that live outside of the US?
Especially in Germany people want to what is happening in Afghanistan since Germany has troops there as well.
And yes, our media reports about your health care reform. Actually, there is news about the US in our media every day since Europe and the US have strong ties, believe it or not.
We know that your election is always between the Democratic and the Republican Party. There are parties like the Libertarian Party but its mostly between the R's and the D's.
So please, how do you know we care more about the new Hollywood movie than about your domestic (!!! not only your foreign policies)?
According to these responses, it seems that there are not many countries around the world that are laughing at America or Obama. This sounds to me like people around the world like Obama.
What do the people around the world think about how so many American people are fed up with Obama?
What do all those people think about non-left leaners being fed up with Obama? You asked a a question but failed to answer it.
I don't think domestic politics particularly interest a lot of people around the world, but your foreign policy sure does.
However, I don't agree that America is not an important part - it might not be the axis, but it is important.
Troop deployments to Afghanistan? Iraq? Sure I want to know - considering my country's troops are pretty much only there because yours are.
In the 2008 election, there was a lot of interest. Mostly because we were all hoping & waiting with bated breath that you guys wouldn't f*** it up again..
Now you don't sound much like my internet Aussie friend. He was hoping we wouldn't mess up as you people had in throwing Howard out and I am very much on his side. I don't know what you people call conservatives but he is one of them, nearly as much as I am. He has sent me e-mail after e-mail of cartoons of the recently deposed PM and is sending some real ones about the present PM.
See there are those in Australia who really do think that it is about time for the pendulum to swing back to the conservative side. My friend has sent me some things that I just laugh and laugh at that your "liberals" whatever you call them have done since Howard left. I wish we could elect him to be the President here but he admits to being born in Australia.
Um, no, but why do we care what people in other countries think? I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Obama is the president of the US not any other country.
Can you prove that he isn't projected as the leader of the NWO when it comes into existence? I think that George Soros and some others like him really want to see that happen.

Is there a chance that they see Obama as somewhat socialist so more like they want us to be? I think that could have a lot to do with their attitude.
Why is it that the Obama-haters can not accept that the world is very happy and optimistic about the Obama presidency?
Had the answers in this thread (from those of us who have travelled abroad since President Obama's election) been along the lines of "Everyone in the world hates President Obama" these same sourpusses would be singing the world's praises.
In Morocco (a Muslim country) many times the first thing that people said to me when I told them I was an American was "Obama" along with an approving expression or a thumbs up. In Spain and Portugal, any discussion that touched on "our" government was met with positive and optimistic comments regarding President Obama (and a disdain of the Bush administration).
Sorry to burst your bubble but the Rabid Right, the Tea Party folks and rednecks are the only ones that have issues with President Obama. The world has embraced him.
I would say that they are welcome to him, if they love him so much.
I was in France last month and most people seemed pretty positive about Obama. In fact, they were surprised when I was critical about his health reform.
They wouldn't really know that that health reform was actually health insurance reform, and they are much closer to universal health than we are.
Our "health reform" was much more of a power grab by the left than health reform. The worst part of it is that our government can't force people to have health insurance under our present Constitution. Now how many Europeans know that is the truth? Probably none since they don't know jack about our Constitution. They know what they hope our left can institute in place of our constitution, though.
