1.I think i remember that Chaney once said that "we have proved that deficits don't matter". So why are Republicans raising so much hell about the deficit today?

2. Just heard Sean Hannity say that" it will be worse than the Clinton years."
I didn't get to hear the rest. What was he referring too?

I consider myself an Independent so you Dem'S and Repub's don't attack me.

I think you may need to be a bit more specific with your question.

To a point. A $200,000 mortgage is not unheard of for a middle class family. A $2 M mortgage would be bad. At some point, those defiicits affect our ability to get more money when we need it. We're at the breaking point now.

1. Deficits are the latest baseball bat the republicans are using to beat the crap out of any inititive the democrats propose and block any successes the current administration may have.
2001-2008
Afghanistan war, unfunded-added to deficit
Iraqi War, unfunded-added to deficit
Pharmaceutical Drug plan- unfunded-added to deficit
Bush tax cuts unfunded-added to deficit
Not one program the bush admin initiated was ever funded. This is why Chaney said what he did. By that point in time, what else could he say?

2. Hannity is a right wing pimp and is counting on short memory syndrome which Americans have in abundance.

My memory is a bit fuzzy...wasn't he talking about deficits not mattering in the context of elections? Referencing Repubs winning seats in congress under Reagan regardless of the deficits that were running at the time.

And FYI, Cheney doesn't speak for all Republicans, and most feel that deficits DO matter...as does this independent.
