What's the problem with liberals... do they really have this delusion that only ONE country can be an innovation for everything... are they that ideologically blind to believe stupid crap like that... for the OP, that story is just plain retarded, buses that go "over" cars? Sounds like Microsoft's patent for a mind control device which is stupid and unimaginative... do you think China was the only country to "think" of this idea, you must be living in a cave... everyone thought about and all agreed it was stupid... china is a little late to the party to find out what a stupid idea it was... and you call this "innovation"?... liberals must have really loose criteria for innovation...

China is learning fast by observing and copying and then building on that. So far China and India have mostly been powerful in the mass market, but in the future they will dominate the quality market as well. They are investing huge sums in higher education, there will be masses of researchers and developers, and that in a country with a long tradition of inventing stuff. Their patent count will really take off.
I read somewhere that they have just captured the title for the world's most powerful supercomputer for the first time, symptomatic I guess.

It is important we do not declare 'the Chinese' and 'the Indians' the enemy of the West, most of them are not at all against us. They have the same goals as people all over the world, i.e. have enough food for their families, decent homes, etc.

LOL, government doesn't innovate, businesses do. When will the left ever learn?

Building a faster computer is nothing, there will always be something faster... and it is of the same quality as I having a faster car than you... what does it do that other supercomputers can't do... answer? Nothing... its faster big deal and a big waste of money to build it and not have something that it can do that others can't....

The copyright and patent laws are broken... built a long time ago and hinders technological advances than promotes it... the whole point of it being built in the first place was to promote technological advances... the copyright/patent laws no are tools against advancement... an antiquated system that should of been retired a long time ago... but the wealthy corporations won't like that... how else are they going to get rich off of you...

Lack of incubation money. R&D needs lots of money..not every idea pans out so there is more lost some years than gained.

R&D offshored can make better use of limited funds. PhD's cost less and can work on more projects. Corporations get a better bang for their buck and can fund more projects with more people than they could using the same money here. Just a fact of life.

Money does indeed make the world go round.

Interestingly Nvidia, basically an American company, has a Taiwanese CEO and president and an Indian CIO In the Silicon Valley the Asians are also omnipresent.
