You're assuming way too much. The fact is, Wyclef just didn't bother to pay what he owed. Hence, the tax liens filed by the IRS.

Seems to be a trend in that industry.

Oh, brother, that's true. Not to mention Nicholas Cage, Wesley Snipes, Chris Tucker, a number of the Blazer players and other NBA types....maybe they didn't get the memo that we are supposed to pay taxes. Could be an honest mistake ~

I hope he's not planning to annex Haiti with the United States. I mean, that's my mom's big dream but it won't rollover well with the Haitian people. They are STRONGLY against it for some strange reason. I think they feel they will lose their identity or something.
Wyclef Jean does not speak French and barely speaks the Haitian Creole dialect.

That would be like a proposed candidate for US President who could not speak English and is barely able to grasp a non-standard dialect of English.

As evident from our own elections, qualifed is no longer a requirement for the title "leader of the free world". Hopefully Haiti will choose better in their own elections.

That's probably the most important fact of all. All of Haiti's government business (to the extent it gets done) is done in formal French. He could study it for a while and get proficient, but to be the president, you'd have to learn it to an academic level, and that would probably take a few years.

I could think of a few better guys to run that hole. How about Little John? Let them grow marijuana. Snoop Dog? They could have a porno based MTV/ RAP economy. Forrest Whittaker could be Idi Amin in real life. Or let some white guys have a shot at running the country. How about Sean penn putting his socialist beliefs to the test and he could burden Chavez and Castro with having to help him LOL, I'd give him six months before he has to flee the country. Or maybe Trump could build casinos along the coasts and people could have discount caribbean vacations. Or we could deport illegal mexicans there and Mexico could could foot the bill for their upkeep.
But seriously, Haiti was yesterday's news. I donated after their earthquake and still get requests for money. They won't get it. America is our only charity case now.

Your lack of cynicism and hope for the future is truly inspiring...
