Hope and Change=same old, same old/Troop withdrawal=continued occupation/Depression=economic recovery. And on and on. Propaganda is the order of the day. Nothing new really.
General Lanza is only acknowledging reality. We're not going to accomplish anything more in Iraq than we did in Bosnia. (Remember Bosnia--a corner of Europe where local tribes have been trying to obliterate each other since the 13th century. We waltz in and proclaim a new, democratic world. Hallelujah! So they waited until the last American troops left, and guess what? You'd never know we had ever been there. I dare anyone to tell me that things are going to be different in Iraq--which is why we may as well bring the troops home now. Every death over there is completely pointless).

Just goes to show that we don't have any business telling any other country what to do.
We should either just conquer like the Romans, or leave everyone the hell alone, and worry about our own security.
