The cars are a byproduct of GM’s main task of creating profit for the stockholders. The cars and parts built in Mexico, or anywhere else, should face a countervailing tariff to eliminate the financial advantage of outsourcing the production.

I would not have given GM or the financiers any money at all. Then I would have had the Federal Government buy the assets at the bankruptcy sale and operate GM as an American company and the finance companies as an American investments.

Mexico will wait until the new plant is operational, then seize it and nationalize it. Let's see what GM does about that! (Maybe it will offer them a clue as to where their next $500 million might be better spent. I doubt it, but then hope springs eternal).
