...the often sited protection of the Executive Branch apparently has been the often sited protection of the undefined self entity, Dr Strangelove Dick.

Fine. I guess the Supreme Court can reverse itself and Scalia can reverse his assinine defending of his duck hunting friend Strangelove as executive privilege is irrelevant to this non Executive Branch entity.... as with any similar claims from Dick.

EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE refers to the assertion made by the President or other executive branch officials when they refuse to give Congress, the court, or private parties information or records which have been requested or subpoenaed, or when they order government witnesses not to testify before Congress.
The assertion is based on the constitutional doctrine of separation of powers, is always controversial, subject to interpretation, and often litigated.
