You might consider getting your facts straight before making ignorant comments. The Canadian commitment to Afghanistan as front-line troops is until 2011. This has been known for a very long time. The General's comment that Canada would need a year to rebuild pertains to the time following their withdrawal.

Canada will probably commit to staying in Afghanistan in a training and support role after 2011, continuing to spend millions of dollars to help try to create a stable country.

Canada has nothing to apologize for about it's military. If you want to denigrate an ally that has been slugging it out in some of the worst areas of Afghanistan since the initial invasion, it says more about you than the Canadian troops.

I think it is shameful how badly our government cares for it's veterans. When their appointed Ombudsman doesn't toe the party line and say sweet nothings about our leaders, he is dismissed. I hope there are repercussions for this. I fear there won't be.

It's all about the numbers, my man, it's the numbers. 3 from Canada*, 3 from the British, 150,000 from the USA..
You are trying to find something to argue about, but as usual, you have no ground to stand on.
Go find another non issue to start an arguement about. We've grown accustomed to your charms..
*..and the 3 from Canada are on vacaton.... oops..!

You are talking numbers my friend. Qualitatively, US troops are nowhere near as good as the British commandos, paras and other units in Afghanistan. It was the same in Iraq. The Brits brought their zone around Basra under control way quicker than our troops did.

The most recent casualty #'s I can find:
  • 151 Canadian casualties.
  • 1140 American casualties.
Canada has apx. 1/10 the population of the US.

Per Capita Canada has sacrificed over 32% more young men and women in this response to an attack on the United States.

Those are the numbers.

Thank God your own military is more grateful than you.

Default Lee Greenwood SEES What Fox And Cons Are BLIND Too

Lee Greenwood made a few minor changes to the lyrics because he sees what most conservatives are blind too. That people in "socialist Canada" have relatives that come home in boxes too. But unlike our country, the bodies are not snuck off transport planes in the dead of night and wiskedaway under cover of dark to a local funeral home for a "private" burial where the media is barred.
No they unload their dead in the daytime and people come out to celebrate the lives of the dead and be with the family.
