As a Catholic myself, I am baffled at the fact that so many Christians are not only social conservatives (I am too, and it makes sense), but also fiscal conservatives. I'm not saying that all Christians have to be right or left, but since when was being Pro-War, Pro-Rich and Anti-eco a Christian ideal?

Would you rather Christians be more geared toward Pro-killing babies, Pro-handouts, Pro-big government?

Im Christian. Im not Pro-war unless there is a need for war. Being a Christian doesnt mean we dont fight the enemy.
Its not about being "pro-rich". Its about it not being the governments job to say someone earns too much and that they should be forced to give it to someone else. Its not about creating victim after victim and telling them they can only make it with the governments help.

Small minds that are predisposed to falling for the fairy tales of their ancestors are also predisposed to falling for the ramblings of right-wing talking heads who primarily pander to the base emotions of fear and greed.

...also predisposed to falling for the ramblings of left-wing nuts who have never read Ayn Rand and consequently think Socialism could work in the real world (or, like some have actually suggested here on CD, that our economic troubles would be over if everyone in America were simply given a government job!).

Fiscal conservatism is not Chrisitan in any way fiscal conservatism belongs to Classicall liberalism.

I should give to the poor , not be forced to give to the government that claims to give it to the poor .

I don't think it right for the gov't to steal my hard earned money and give it to planned parenthood.

I also don't think it's a good thing for people to rely on the gov't for things that the church can be providing. A man-centered approach to charity by way of the gov't is rarely as efficient or good as what you can get when people help people directly.

It's also a very Biblical concept that if you don't work, you don't eat. Welfare can encourage free-loading. We need to help those that legitimately need help, but when people abuse the system, that's just not cool.
