OK: The Muslims who were opposing the building of Hindu temple and their violence and disrespect of the Hindu religion were disgusting. I thought that was a given, and obvious. It just wasn't mentioned because the point of your posting it was to promote a certain ideology against a specific group of people, so I responded to that.
Not to mention the fact that this took place in another country that likely doesn't have the constitutional protection of rights that we have in this country.

Of course, blame it on being taken out of context. I listened to that idiots words over and over again, looking for something that would change my mind about his words. Nothing, he said what he said, and he meant what he said.

But I digress, you continually flaunt that you know more than anyone here, you continually state that we are all wrong for how we feel, based on the fact that you know more than we do...To imply that because people do not live at GZ gives them no right to be concerned is selfish(and prior to telling me that it wasn't implied read paragraph 2 and 3 of post #82) Are you among those people whom slapped themselves on the cheek and said "oh ruf ruf didn't mean it that way, we are still safe"...

And BTW, those "Americans in cornfields", you speak of, is 90 percent of the military that protects your god given right to speak on this forum! You should never forget that!

I don't know how you listened to the same thing I did and got a completely different story out of it, except that we must have started from different places.

You didn't even read post #82, because what you think you see there isn't implied at all. I don't live at the WTC. I live 60 miles from the city. I worked there until 9/11/01, 8:46 a.m. I sometimes work there now, too. Just to get the facts straight.

I do not believe I have said anyone is wrong for how they feel, but I do try to correct misinformation and to get people to think logically and with reason rather than just recite what they've heard and react based on their fears and emotions.

Your perceptions and mine are obviously not the same. I have explained in other posts my reasons for seeing things the way I do based on my experiences, and I'm not going into it again here, but all that you see is "flaunting". Your sentence about "we are still safe" makes zero sense since the main theme of my post was that we never were.

Our soldiers are not sitting in cornfields in America passing judgement. They are in the deserts and the mountains, and they know the score better than any of us do, and you have no business speaking for them or admonishing me about freedom of speech. My late father had both his feet blown off in WWII, and he is the person who taught me that the hatred some of you so excitedly embrace with your whole hearts is a stupid way to live. Maybe you'll learn someday. Maybe you won't.

EDIT: By the way, even though I've corrected your misperception that I live near the WTC, you are correct in your belief that I think the people who do actually live there should have the most say in whether or not this mosque/MCC/whatever gets built. They have to live with it, and they overwhelmingly approved it before most people even heard of it. The approval by the residents of the neighborhood IS what started this whole controversy, if you recall.

It will be rebuilt. They are going to have a much larger church than they had before, but so far they could not come to terms with how much they want the Port Authority to give them as well as other property issues. They are using the publicity over the mosque to get the talks restarted, which is very smart of them.

Even if they got their settlement already, it still could not yet be built. The property where their church used to stand is under excavation for the vehicle security center that will be below the new WTC complex. It simply doesn't make sense to build a church first and then excavate beneath it.
imho, if the church wishes to get publicity to help, then they need to step it up a notch and fire their PR firm. I rarely see media attention given to them on this issue. Could be it's a me thing though to, as I don't pay too much attention, as I do have a life and my mind is mostly wrapped around it. Knowing I can not give to you the man's name that was suppose to know what he was talking about concerning the issues with the church's permits, can give testament to that. I usually wake up some where in the middle of a conversation going, who's on now and what was it they were talking about?

Also, I doubt that the first responder who is filing the lawsuit will gain media attention either. Just so as you know, his mission is facts. His win, will come when all the facts get placed on the table and no more dance routines from the imam or any one else. They did give a web site. Freedom Watch dot org I think. I believe that if a person is interested they can follow the progress of the suit from there. (no, I haven't verified it)

It's called Tolerance, the New American Way.
Quote:
Tolerance as a Tool for Transformation Throughout history, "tolerance" has meant different things to different people. A century ago, most Americans would have defined it as civility toward disagreeable persons, not as acceptance of contrary views. In contrast, today's "tolerance" demands acceptance of politically correct views but intolerance toward those who cling to "traditional" values. While media leaders feel free to mock Christians, believers are losing their freedom to state their convictions. After all, they might hurt someone's feelings.
Sound familiar? (my bold for emphasis) Acceptance is in, disagreeing is out.

We have been getting divided as a country for the past few yeras. This mosque will be part of the icing on the cake. We are all heading down a very dangerous road and the people are being ignored. To listen to the maroon saying that the Mosque has to be built there because it made headlines in Afghan. and they will revolt if it is not built.

Sorry, I don't give a flying fig for the way "they" feel or any illegals here.

That's because Obama knows those who would kill our troops over this mosque are one and the same with those who will build it.

Certainly radical muslims wouldn't care about a moderate mosque being built, but this is THEIR mosque. Obama knows it and admitted it.

ok, with the Columbine issue it is a legality argument?
What if there were no legal restrictions regarding gun shops and schools? Would you still be against it? I think people have the ability to discern right from wrong regardless of the legal technicalities. After all, it is people who write our laws. You seem to take that position with the Koran burning? So, your view is that it is ok to offend millions of Americans by building an Islamic center next to ground zero, but we can't offend muslims by burning the Koran? because muslims will threaten violence against our troops? well, yes they might... but, has it ever occurred to you that americans might resort to violence if the mosque is built?

Thanks, and yes--the find of this ship WAS very cool. They took it out piece by piece and brought it somewhere (Maryland, I think) to examine it. Found an anchor, too. I didn't get to see it, just the pics.

The entire World Trade Center site is actually landfill from earlier building in New York City in previous centuries. I worked with some of the old guys who worked on the original WTC--they used to find old bottles and dishes and other things when they were excavating.

Someone from the NY Archeological Society comes in every week to check over the current construction site, and part of his job is to make sure the original tower foundations are not disturbed-they are now under historical preservation protection. The reflecting pools of the memorial are located where the original towers stood, but slightly inside the perimeters to preserve those foundations.

Just some more off-topic info.

OK, back to our regularly scheduled infighting...
