The above is the most inane comment I believe I have read here.

MANY republicans are blue collar workers, non shop owners, non ceo's etc etc.

Good grief, do you really believe what you wrote here?

Fascism, by definition and approach, is at odds with unions.

We do not need the insanity of open shops, right-to slave laws, or corrupted politicians in bed with the local industries. We need a massive expansion of unions, not only here but across the planet. Worker of the world need to unite and be paid more of the wealth they create instead of slaving for the "Man" or the fancy financier is some far off city.
Except that govt employee unions take tax money from the populace as a whole. They are not taking it strictly from the wealthy. In many cases they are surviving quite well of others not as well off as them.

And CEOs who run companies into the ground and walk away with packages in the HUNDRED$ of MILLION$ have nothing to do with why things are the way they are, eh?

If you read a book do you stop half way thru? You're certainly only looking at half the story here.

Then you have my sincerest condolences. Even though I am a constitutionalist and believe that many of Obama's liberal policies are socialist in nature, I don't believe for a moment that all democrats are communists.

Do you believe communists and socialists are the same thing?

Well, i don't need the condolences, but i'll take 'em. Thanks.

I'll save my condolences for the working stiff who now finds himself with benefit cuts, no raises, reduced wages, longer hours, no retirement, and little to no paid sick time or vacation time.

I always get a kick when people complain about wages and retirement... like somewhere there is a group of people living off of that persons sweat. You are sadly mistaken to think somebody owes someone else a pay check or a retirment..

I guess my question is do you really think that the Union workers for the auto companies had NOTHING to do with their demise??

I dont know much about Michigan and the city of Detroit. I know its pretty depressed and even more so when compared to what it was like back in the 50's and 60's. What has been the political history of that state? how about the city? are they predominantly republican or democrat?
