I agree except that it started long before Bush-Cheney. The fire was lit under the boiler early in the Reagan years and from that point on the middle class didn't stand a chance.

Another load of B.S.

As of the end of Sep 2010, the U.S. will have spent over $1.09 TRILLION dollars in Iraq. The nice little play on words that the institute has managed to slip in and that most of the apologists have bought is the money SPENT as of the speech. That is not a completely true statement, simply because the true statement to keep in line with the Senator is, at that moment the U.S. had spent roughly $700 million in Iraq & Afghanistan...and $0 on the stimulus. However, what the Senator used was a slight of hand, and said the U.S. had SPENT $700 billion and the whole CBO allocation for the stimulus was $862 billion. If the Senator was to compare apples to apples, he would have said the U.S. has as of FY 2010 allocated $1.09 TRILLION dollars to Iraq & Afghansitan and $862 billionto the Stimulus according to CBO scoring.

Or in short...the Senator was lying. And many, many here have bought straight into it. Congratulations for showing how gullible you are. It really is quite an amazing and entertaining demonstration.

I guess most of those people also take the word of the 'Car Fox' as well...

I also love the little tid-bit on how the Bush administration spent more on education than on the Iraq war. What they don't seem to realize though is, that by that statement they are damning the Republican's and Bush by admitting that they did not do the job correctly or look after our troops or interests, and thus dragged out the war and the total costs in life and finances to be cleaned up by whomever followed them.

Quite enlightening indeed.

AFTER we the taxpayers bailed out Wells fargo B of A, etc...more call centers opened in 3rd world countries...no jobs for Americans, 3000 jobs lost alone at Citiresidential call center in southeast and Florida.

Students get their Masters degrees and cant find a job in the U.S. Thats the reality. Meanwhile idiots watch Glenn Beck and think things are Obamas fault.

The Obama trillion went into the pockets of Main Street Americans, and kept them in a job - at least for awhile.
Dems might be 'dim', Repubs are simply bloodthirsty.

sorry to INFORM you but these problems stem from: 1993, 1995, and 1999 and you can thank the liberals for it, and most of it goes back to the clinton era. why because ECONOMICS run in 10(+/-4) year CYCLES and what we are facing NOW is in DIRECT RELATION to what happened back in the 90's

1993 NAFTA----originally sugested by Brzezinski's puppet carter.....negotiated by bush1--- passed by the democrat controlled congress in Dec 1993, pushed by clinton, signed by clinton---the consequence ...... 60+ million HIGH PAYING jobs have been lost, 2 trillion worth of debt from the lost wages.

1995 clinton (through his chief(s) of HUD (Henry Cisneros, and later Andrew Coumo )) eased the rules on obtaining mortgages allowing more 'exotic' mortgages and 'no-dov' mortgages-----the consequence ......housing SKYROCKETED causing low inventories causing a 'not normal' increase in home prices, sellers got greedy, buyers got even greedier (looking to PROFIT in a skyrocketing market by flipping) and bought THINKING that prices would still increase and their ADJUSTABLE mortgage would pay it self off in MINIMUMAL years...EVEN THOUGH THESE INCREASES IN HOME VALUES WERE TOTALLY UNHEARD OF, AND MORTGAGE RATES WERE AT 40 YEAR LOWS( what did they think an adjustable mortgage gotten at 40 year lows would do in the term(3 months-3years) when it adjusted...of course it would go up, their CONTRACT even said after the term it would be 6% PLUS PRIME)))

For many potential homebuyers, the lack of cash available to accumulate the required downpayment and closing costs is the major impediment to purchasing a home. Other households do not have sufficient available income to to make the monthly payments on mortgages financed at market interest rates for standard loan terms. Financing strategies, fueled by the creativity and resources of the private and public sectors, should address both of these financial barriers to homeownership."
The above is the start of the mortgage meltdon: Clinton's National Homeownership Strategy...Hot Property February 2008 Archives - BusinessWeek

1996 clinton signed The Telecommunications Act of 1996 (The Act was claimed to foster competition. Instead, it allowed industry consolidation whose actions reduced the number of major media companies from around 30 in 1993 to 10 in 1996, and reducing the 10 in 1996 to 6 in 2005.)

1998 clinton does not allow drilling for OUR OWN OIL (he and the dems say it would be 10 yaers before we would see anything

1999 Clinton DEREGULATES the banking industry

2000 clinton signs the China trade bill

2000 clinton signs the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000..(which paves the way for ENRON)

2001 Clinton gets china into the World Trade Organization

our problems that we face TODAY, started well before bush2
well said WH. remember that carter signed the community reinvestment act, which started the whole housing mess. then in the last two years of bush 41, the federal reserve started cutting interest rates to prop up the economy after bush senior signed some large tax increases into law. the interest rate cuts continued during the clinton administration, the only reason that clinton got away with raising taxes is because of the dotcom bubble, and the revenue from savings and loan assets the government bought being sold off. when the dotcom bubble popped, the economy started tanking, and got worse after the 9/11 attacks, and it was the bush 43 tax cuts that kept the economy going, along with the fed continuing to cut interest rates.

through the bush years, until 2007, the deficit was falling, in fact it was a low as $160 billion. and then the democrats took over congress, and what happened? deficits starting climbing again until they hit just under $500 billion at the end of bushs term in office. by the end of fiscal 09, obama and the democrats had pushed the deficit to $1.4 trillion, and obamas budgets for the next ten years show $1+ trillion deficits EVERY YEAR!!!! so much for bush collapsing the economy. from the time washington was president, to the time bush 43 left office, the country had borrowed a total of $9 trillion. since obama has been in office, the government has borrowed $3 trillion in 18 months.

you can blame the unions for that. they are the ones pricing US labor out of the market, forcing US companies to go overseas for lower overhead. you can also blame the environmentalist wackos as well for making the cost of doing business expensive, and for making the cost of opening or expanding a business not only expensive as heck, but extremely time consuming also with the endless lawsuits, and the endless push for new regulation that does nothing but increase the cost of doing business.

so you go ahead and live in your rose colored world when the liberals have only the best for the planet in mind for everyone, but dont take off your rose colored glasses and look around and find the truth and then complain about the liberals, because us conservatives will be standing there say WE TOLD YOU SO BUT YOU WOULDNT LISTEN TO US.

The democraps wasted trillions of dollars for useless programs and bailouts, let the crooked bankers steal billions from the American people and sent bad paper around the world, and gave tax moneys to companies to pass along to CEOs in millions of dollars in undeserving bonuses.
The idiots who voted for them last time are pumped up to do it again.

One of the best kick butt comebacks I have read here.

Guess Obama has wasted away a ton of bucks and get nothing to show for it.

OP- YOUR VP AND YOUR SOS BOTH VOTED TO SEND OUR TROOPS TO WAR yet you say nothing.

Without there vote we would not have went to war or did you know that?

Talk about getting OWNED in a post.

A Bamker is those who followed Chris Dodd and Barney Frank as they screwed over millions of Americans.

Lib loons have been in total control for 21 months, controlled congress for 3 years, what the hell have they done?

So you say we have spent 1.09 on iraq war correct

How much has Obama spent in 2 years minus the wars? Please add up his stimulus, His Gm bailout, His housing credits, His cash for clunkers, all of it

I love how the CBO is not lying when it says that the healthcare bill will be this and that but now all of a sudden the CBO lies lmbo
