I asked you to post the funding link for the tank before. Are you certain the funds came from county tax dollars or from DHS grants? And if the funds came from county taxpayers it is their tank and will remain with the county after he is out of office, no?
I told you,if you want to know look it up.
The tank & armored personnel carrier & a .50 caliber machine gun were purchased by the profits made from very highly inflated prices from the jail commissaries. The approximately 6 million a year made is mostly unaccounted for.
If he wants people to produce papers when asked, so then should the sheriffs dept. be accountable for releasing public records & not bullying those county officials who ask.
You must be thinking of Obama's speech where he said a family going for ice cream would be stopped and asked for their "papers".
The disinformation that came from the President and the WH and the administration seems to be working on the liberal masses.
In reality, "papers" is nothing more than your driver's license.
And they cannot ask about citizenship unless they have already stopped you for some other illegal activity, such as running a red light or speeding or yielding at a stop sign.
You get pulled over by a cop and what's the first thing they ask for ?
Driver's license. You are already doing this today.
There are citizenship questions on almost every form you fill out today yet you object to a cop asking you if you are a US citizen ?
I don't object at all......nor should the sheriff's dept when asked to produce what should be public knowledge, or do you disagree?

This is an armored personel carrier, not a "tank". They have become fairly commonplace in larger cities for law enforcement unfortunately. As for the .50 cal belt-fed, good for him if that will deter drug and human traffickers. It will stop speeding vehicles out in the desert by blowing a hole through the engine block. The BATFE transfer restrictions on those are very tough and it will only ever be able to be transfered to other law enforcement agencies or back to the US military. It is not "his" but belongs to the department under their LE class III license. I suspect the county can order these items sold at any time if it would raise funds for their budget.
Since he did not use tax dollars, according to your own post which I am accepting as truthful, what is the beef with having equipment better than the violent illegal drug & human traffickers?
As to unaccounted funds, again, this falls under the responsibility of the county and/or state auditor and the AZ-AG doesn't it? Where are they on this? If there really is strong suspicion of wrong doing why hasn't the state of AZ sue him for the records?

He has a tank in addition to these other weapons.
I know that the sheriff has been accused of bullying many of these people that have requested he produce the spending reports from his office. In fact he has some of them arrested on 'corruption' charges & I find that ironic for someone in public office who is so secretive with their budget.
Ramon Delgadillo has worked 25 years as an interpreter for Maricopa County Superior Court. It's a regular part of his job to enter the county jail to interpret for defense attorneys representing Spanish-speaking defendants.
But on Aug. 15, he was turned away as a consequence of Sheriff Joe Arpaio's new policy to keep undocumented immigrants from visiting inmates.
Delgadillo is a naturalized U.S. citizen, and when he checked a box to that effect on a new jail visitor's application form, he was told he had to provide detailed information about his naturalization certificate and his passport.
He didn't have that information with him.
"I had my court ID, and I gave it to them," Delgadillo said, but it didn't help. "There is no governmental requirement to carry the information that was requested. There is no requirement to apply for a passport as a citizen, naturalized or not."
And over the next 24 hours, the scene was repeated several times.
In addition to Delgadillo, a foreign-born public defender and a mitigation specialist were turned away. According to a spokesman at the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office, other employees were told that they could get through once but would be turned away in the future if they didn't have that information.
At a meeting this morning, county supervisors voted unanimously to curtail Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's access to county credit cards -- putting a $200 per-purchase limit on cards issued to the Sheriff's Office after the sheriff refused to cooperate with a routine audit.
But, at the meeting, County Manager David Smith quietly dropped a bombshell about an unrelated matter. He revealed that a Department of Labor investigation into practices at Arpaio's jails has concluded -- and that Arpaio's poor management has now put county taxpayers on the hook for another $2 million.
Since August, 2009, the Department of Labor had been investigating whether Arpaio was illegally, and systematically, refusing to compensate detention officers for overtime.
The absolute number of deaths of people while in custody or even right after leaving is phenominal. In the article about 41 million you need to check out the insurance. And I haven't even gotten started on the botched prostitution sting.
I suspect, as is usual, the truth about what is really going on lays somewhere in the middle of both side's claims. Time will tell. Until that time our current immigration laws need to be enforced. After all, it IS the law until such a time as the is changed. The federal Government's stalling on current immigration law enforcement is disgraceful and wasting human resources and lives.
Wow a Gov employee actually doing his job. bet he get's 90% of the vote next election
