Okay... that's ONE black American swimmer versus the SIX black American teenagers that drowned in the Red River in Shrevesport, LA.
While surfing the web, the numbers are that about 58% of all blacks and 56% Hispanic children can't swim. And about 31% of all white children can't swim. So about twice as many blacks and Hispanic children can't swim compared to white children.
And the study also showed that those children who don't swim, also have parents that don't swim either.
There were no numbers on Asian American children being non-swimmers, but my mom made sure that all of her children learned how to swim. She made us take swimming lessons for several summers. I made it through the Junior Lifesaving course.
The last time I watched the BBC news, probably about 10 years ago, they referred to Sweden as a third world country. Their "world view" is a little odd, IMO.
