I'd have more respect for them if they'd show the testicular fortitude to rally for laws against adultery - that, at least, would show a principled stance.

Adultery, after all, is on the Short List - "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife", IIRC - but homosexuality isn't. Jesus said "Go forth and sin no more" to an adulteress, didn't say a word of homosexual attraction. Yet, for some reason, it's gays, pornography and abortion that needs laws.

And way more marriages are dissolved due to cheating spouses than are due to spouses suddenly deciding they want to bed members of the same sex.

There is, of course, a slight snag with pushing for laws against adultery: A lot of the Very Pious would end up behind bars. And congregation members in the slammer don't put cash in the collection plate. These guys are have made it their business model to further God's Plan by pointing out other people's sinful behavior to their flock - a much easier sell than telling people to look for sin among their own.

I'm not sure how the Bible promotes civilized behavior for the 21st Century. I would have to take major amounts of drugs in order to buy into that.

There is so much hypocrisy on the right. I mean, look at the governor races. Carl Paladino who sent pornographic emails showing women having sex with horses, won the Republican primary for Gov of New York and gets support from the same people who protest against gay marriage. So the anti-government Tea Party now supports someone who earns over $10 million a year from government housing contracts? Any abortion is a sin, but beastiality isn't? Rick Scott (my state) was CEO of a company that was convicted of the biggest case of Medicare fraud in history. That means he stole money from taxpayers. The people who voted for him obviously don't seem to care that he got a $10 million severance and $300 million in stock options! This is a "grassroots" movement for the people?

Now Delaware Senate nominee, Christine O'Donnell, has been called dishonest and unethical by her own financial advisers and former campaign managers. Supporters will call this a media witch hunt, but wouldn't you want to know the truth before someone gets into office?

I don't care if someone is a Democrat or Republican. Candidates need to answer questions and take responsibility for their actions.

We have so many more important things to worry about than activities involving only consenting adults. What a waste of time this 'conservative rally' is.

What I keep in mind is that their efforts are mostly a bunch of hot air. Liberty and freedom will continue to make progress in this country - slowly but surely. If they really think they're going to roll back the clock on same-sex marriage, pornography, or abortion, they're fooling themselves.

Fascinating, since liberty and freedom have been fast receding in the US for more than 20 years. We'd have to roll back the clock at least that far just to restore a state of affairs that could be called sanity....and we will - or cease to exist as a free nation bearing any resemblance to the one handed down to us.

Good luck. Let me know when you feel like you've rolled back the clock 20 years.

It was a good move to delete your initial response and replace it with this one.

This Christian will get her information about God and faith from the Bible, but I will still go to the science books for info on human beings - especially info that wasn't around at the time of the Bible! Using the Bible as a scientific source is returning to the 15th century when all scientific research was overseen by the Pope!
