So, you've probably heard of the Mexican gang invasion and the federal government suing Arizona for trying to enforce illegal immigration as a border state. Well, right back at you, feds. Five states (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan) are suing the Federal government this week to stop an Asian invasion they want shut down. The federal government is lining up with big business in pooh-poohing this "grave threat" over the aggressive Asian invaders who are "prolific breeders" and who have attacked innocent people in many states.
So, where do you stand? With the astroturf and small business or with the federal government and big business?
I can name another asian invader everybody would like to see dead... the stink bug. These pests creep into your homes all year long and only seem to take a break during the summer months to go outside and mate. I saw them on a pole congregating and mating and I smashed them with a newspaper. I don't usually kill bugs except maybe flies and mosquitos but these guys I kill whenever I find them in the house.
Try reading and having one buzzing around the lamp's bulb. Try using the bathroom and having one crawling on the sink( they come down through the attic through the vent). And they home in on any drink glass you have. We had to take down the air conditioners early to keep them from coming inside and we still found a few that made it in. Two years ago I found over a hundred in the drapes( shop vac time) and I know we'll see hundreds again on the side of the house basking in the sun. Nothing kills them and they seem to find any crack near a window or in the roof and come inside. We tried netting on the bathroom vent and they still make it in. Mothballs in the window frames, it doesn't stop them. And squishing them does leave a stink. No poisons are sold specifically to use against them and would kill anything else it comes in contact with.
Now I read that they're harming crops and fruit. We have an apple tree so I think that attracts them. They're worse than japanese beetles... another asian invader.....
Means of Introduction: This species was imported and stocked for phytoplankton control in eutrophic water bodies and also apparently as a food fish. It was first brought into the United States in 1973 when a private fish farmer imported silver carp into Arkansas (Freeze and Henderson 1982). By the mid 1970s the silver carp was being raised at six state, federal, and private facilities, and by the late 1970s it had been stocked in several municipal sewage lagoons (Robison and Buchanan 1988).
Isnt there another Asian fish I think it is the Snake Head.
that is a very bad one?
