He also re-hired bush era commander general petraeus, gave even more money to big banks, and the big debate, heathcare reform if you actually read it is so loaded with earmarks and pork for big insurance and pharmaceutical it's not even funny. It's as right as it can get and just barely slide through passing.
Gates and Petraeus he kept on because they were the right men for the job. That's not the same thing as working with Republican leadership in congress.

Also, giving money to big banks, insurance and Big Pharma is not working with Republicans either. 99% of the Republicans I know were horrified by this.

Exceeding his Constitutional authority. Example: Taking over GM, negating the contract between bonholders and GM while simultaneously handing that ownership over to the unions. For this alone he should face impeachement. What he did was highly illegal. Don't give me any of that "general welfare clause" garbage either. Another example was to get between mortgagees and the mortgage holders by injecting the government into their contract.

One of his biggest mistakes is that he personally has not legalized same-sex marriage nor has he attended one nor has he danced with the groom.

The 2 days after Obama was elected the Dow went down almost 10%
That has never happend in the history of this country (after an election)

We'll what did the market do on his infamous inauguration speech? Down 4%

Wake up America !!!!!!!!!!!
What you neglected to mention is that the Dow has been up about 16% since that low of 8943. The 10% dip was actually a pretty good buying opportunity. Thanks for sharing

Please don't just say the issue (like the economy, big government, Iran, the border, gay rights, the oil spill, global warming, bailouts, etc.) but say specifically what he did or didn't do to make it what you consider to be his biggest mistake. I suspect liberals/progressives think he at least made one mistake even if it is different than the mistakes non-liberals/progressives mention so I hope everyone weighs in.
Atempting to work with the rightwing on dealing with the issues, anyone paying attention during the election and since understands the rightwing has no intention of ever working with the President.

Saving GM and Chrysler could possibly be one of the best things Obama has done in office. Unlike Bush who gave big banks trillions of dollars when they destroyed the housing market that was a flat out gift on our dime that does not need to be repaid (remember the lavish vacations the CEO's took on our money after the "gift"?). If anyone should face impeachment, it's Bush.
Obama did it the right way if they wanted money, they had to do it his way. GM CEO, fired. Private jets, gone. They also forced them to make more competitive cars, offer better financing and more fuel efficient vehicles. Nearly overnight Chrysler and especially GM sales skyrocketed. It was also a loan, not a gift like to big banks. A republican in that situation would have said to hell with auto, causing thousands and thousands of jobs lost with the collapse of those companies.

Market is at levels that it was 11years ago, large in part to Obamanomics.
He's making the same mistakes as the japanase. more government spending, more stimulus, more debt.

I will withdraw my criticism of BHO when he shows his intention to secure the people's inalienable rights, without denying any individual's right in the process. But as long as he champions "collectivization" of America, by any and all means, fair and foul, he is anathema to the principles stated in the Declaration of Independence.

Socialism or Communism, or a little of both?
